For the first time ever, travelers will be able to cruise the Great Lakes without leaving the United States. Small ship specialist American Cruise Lines has announced three brand-new, all-domestic itineraries launching in summer 2026, celebrating America’s lakefront cities and charming small towns along the way.
Sailing aboard the company’s newest ship, the American Patriot, guests can explore the best of the Midwest, from Syracuse, New York, to Cleveland, Ohio, and Milwaukee, Wisconsin, all without crossing into Canada. The 9- and 14-day voyages will journey across Lake Ontario, Lake Erie, Lake Michigan, and Lake Huron, offering a uniquely American take on Great Lakes cruising.
Onboard, travelers can expect a touch of luxury, with private balconies, a top-deck Sky Walk, chart room, fitness center, and more.
Three unique itineraries

The nine-day Great Lakes & Thousand Islands cruise sails between Syracuse, New York, and Cleveland, Ohio, with highlights including Boldt Castle, a glass-bottom boat tour over a shipwreck, and stops at Niagara Falls and Amish Country. The nine-day Lake Michigan & Upper Peninsula cruise departs round-trip from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, featuring visits to Escanaba’s historic sites, the National Railroad Museum, Muskegon’s lighthouses, and the Harley-Davidson Museum. Itineraries sail June 24, July 1, August 1, and August 8, 2026.
Finally, the 14-day American Great Lakes journey spans 800 miles from Cleveland to Milwaukee, covering Lakes Erie, Huron, and Michigan.
