If you're a fan of bock beer, you'll love this new bourbon

When it comes to American-made bock beers, there are none as well-known as Shiner Bock. Especially when the weather turns cooler, it’s difficult to beat the timeless appeal of the malty, rich, refreshing brew. But, while the Texas-based K. Spoetzl Brewery & Distillery is most known for its beers, it recently announced the launch of a new bourbon whiskey.

Shiner Texas Legend

It’s aptly called Shiner Texas Legend, and it’s made with a four-grain mash bill featuring yellow dent corn, malted wheat, winter rye, and two-row malted barley. It was matured in heavy toast level 3 char American white oak and bottled at a barrel strength 109 proof.

According to the brand, the result is a complex, memorable whiskey loaded with flavors like charred oak, caramelized sugar, baking spices, candied orange peels, toasted vanilla beans, and maple candy.

“With Shiner Texas Legend Bourbon, our team wanted to create something that feels timeless but unmistakably Texan,” Tom Fiorenzi, Director of Brewery and Distillery Operations says.

“It’s smooth and balanced with a rich aroma and the depth you’d expect from a classic bourbon, yet it carries a distinct Texas character from natural aging in American oak barrels shaped by the South Texas climate. We’re excited to share it.”

Where can I buy it?

The launch of Shiner Texas Legend took place at Shiner’s new distillery on November 1st. Drinkers can purchase a bottle of this new whiskey for $199.

Sagamore Whiskey doubles down on Maryland roots with two new releases
Sagamore Whiskey is dropping two new expressions: one national high-rye bourbon, and one for America's 250th birthday.
Alcohol, Beverage, Liquor

Long before Kentucky bourbon took over the American whiskey conversation, Maryland was distilling quality juice: rye whiskey. The folks at Sagamore Whiskey have spent years trying to bring that legacy back, and this month it's making the case twice.

First off, the Baltimore-based company (which you may remember as Sagamore Spirit) is dropping a wide-release: Sagamore High Rye Straight Bourbon goes national July 1 at an SRP of $50.
