There aren’t many Irish whiskey brands more beloved than Redbreast. If you’re planning to sip Irish whiskey this St. Patrick’s Day, you can’t go wrong with anything from its portfolio. But, if you want something more unique, you’ll be happy to learn that its newest expression has been finished for more than a year in casks that previously held wine.
Redbreast Moscatel Wine Cask Edition

The fifth expression in Redbreast’s award-winning Iberian Series was matured in a combination of ex-bourbon barrels and oloroso sherry casks before finishing for 12 months in Málaga Moscatel casks. The result is a memorable, balanced 92-proof whiskey you’ll want on your St. Patrick’s Day table.
According to Redbreast, it begins with notes of orange peel, tangerine zest, chamomile tea, nutmeg, and cedarwood, then moves to vanilla beans, floral honey, sugar-glazed fruits, black peppercorn, and clove.
“The launch of Redbreast Moscatel Wine Cask Edition is a celebration of Redbreast’s heritage, craftsmanship, and incredible legacy dating back to the late 1800s,” Master Blender David McCabe says.
“The use of Spanish Moscatel-seasoned casks is a tribute to Redbreast’s historic ties to sherry and fortified wines, and our appreciation for the incredible people across the region, including Marta and her family at Bodegas Quitapenas, which was founded in 1880. Their remarkable family heritage inspired the richness and depth of this expression.”
