For those unaware, a navy-style rum is a high-proof expression distilled and bottled to taste like the spirit rationed to the British Royal Navy until 1970. Many brands make versions of this style. The newest and potentially most authentic comes from the folks at Planteray Rum.
Planteray Mister Fogg Navy Rum Sail N°2

After five years of research, Planteray Rum is announcing the release of Mister Fogg Navy Rum Sail N°2. This navy-style rum is being released in collaboration with its new book, The Rum Never Sets – 300 Years of Royal Navy & London Dock Rum.
Mister Fogg Navy Rum Sail N°2 is the second release after 2024’s Sail N°1. This navy-style rum was made using traditional techniques and unique maturation. After distilling, this blend of rums from Barbados, the birthplace of rum, Trinidad, Guyana, Mauritius, and Jamaica is aged in ex-bourbon barrels in its Caribbean island home. It’s then shipped across the Atlantic Ocean to be aged at sea. This technique is a reference to the rum rations that would slosh around as the British Royal Navy sailed across the globe. But that’s not all. After arriving in France, it’s matured in season oak barrels.
According to Planteray, the result is a robust 55.7% ABV navy-style rum that bursts with molasses candy, dark chocolate, toasted vanilla beans, dried fruits, and a tapestry of island spices.
Where can I find it?

Planteray Mister Fogg Navy Rum Sail N°2 is a limited edition expression. Beginning this month, it’s available at select retailers for the suggested retail price of $37.99 for a 700ml bottle.
