PATRÓN is launching its first distilled-to-proof tequila

PATRÓN 100
PATRÓN

If you’re a tequila drinker, the chances are you have a bottle or two of PATRÓN on your bar cart. There aren’t many brands as well-known or beloved as this one. You can’t go wrong with anything from its tequila portfolio. But fans of home cocktailing should be excited because recently, this iconic tequila brand announced the release of its first-ever distilled-to-proof tequila.

PATRÓN 100

As the name suggests, PATRÓN 100 is a 100-proof, small-batch tequila made with 100% Blue Weber agave, produced using traditional tahona stone milling. The result is a complex, memorable, high-proof tequila perfect for sipping neat or mixing into cocktails like the Margarita or Paloma. At such a high proof, this tequila will shine in any cocktail.

According to PATRÓN, this 50% ABV tequila is centered on flavors like sweet vanilla, cooked agave, light minerality, earthy notes, and just a hint of cracked black pepper to meld everything together.

“High proof should mean high performance, not harshness,” David Rodriguez, PATRÓN Tequila Master Distiller, says.

“With PATRÓN 100, we focused on building more depth and structure while keeping the balanced profile people expect from our tequilas. At 100 proof, the agave profile can really shine through, standing up beautifully to minerality and dilution in cocktails. This is a tequila built for bartenders who want bold, high-character flavor that still feels refined.”

Where can I buy it?

If you want to add a bottle of PATRÓN 100 to your home bar for sipping and mixing, you can find this unique tequila (and all other PATRÓN expressions) at alcohol retailers throughout the US for the suggested retail price of $49.99 for a 750ml bottle. This new coffee and hydration bundle gives back to Brazilian farmers
This $50 coffee & hydration bundle is your new summer essential
Equator Coffee

We're right in the heart of the summer -- and this fun seasonal collab from Equator Coffees makes the perfect pairing for those who love coffee (and hydration) as much as I do. The new Golden Hour x Buoy Hydration Bundle, (priced at $50), pairs Equator's Golden Hour blend (bright, fruity notes of orange creamsicle and Rainier cherry) with Buoy's unsweetened hydration drops and a 32oz water bottle featuring original artwork from local SF muralist Rymie. As you build a nice war-weather routine, this bundle helps emphasize the importance of staying hydrated (and caffeinated) all summer long. Even better, 5% of collection sales support youth agricultural education at the farm behind the blend in Brazil.

“Golden Hour is summer in a cup. It’s bright, vibrant, and the kind of coffee I reach for when the days get longer. Pairing it with Buoy hydration drops and a custom Nalgene just made sense to us—great coffee to start your day, hydration to keep you feeling your best, and a bottle you’ll actually want to bring everywhere this summer," says Helen Russell, Co-Founder and Executive Chair.

The best value single malt whisky from every region of Scotland
Take a tour of Scotland with these gateway whiskies
Aberlour

If you’re new to the world of Scotch whisky, you might just assume that it all tastes the same. Well, not only are there major differences in aroma and flavor between many well-known whiskies, but there are also five distinct regions, and each has its own unique flavor profile. Each region is also home to many value whiskies. Today, I’m going to highlight one from each. But before I get into that, I need to start at the beginning.

When I first started writing about alcohol, Scotch whisky seemed a little overwhelming to me. When I first tasted it, I thought they all tasted the same. That changed when I was given a dram of single malt whisky from The Macallan alongside a dram of single malt whisky from Laphroaig. Boy, was my mind blown.

Craft beer and spirits, Indigenous style
A look at a unique tribal label within the craft beer industry
Talking Cedar Brewery & Distillery.

When an industry fails to reflect the community, it falls short. That's the case for everything from fashion and music to the craft beer movement. Diversity in production honors the diversity in consumers.

In terms of beer, it's long been a white and male dominated affair. Lately, marginalized folks have made strides and craft beer has partnered up with some organizations doing great work. But so much work is left to do.
