Wanderfolk Distillery is Oklahoma’s first legal distillery. It’s well-known for its portfolio of craft spirits. And while you can’t go wrong with anything from this brand, the distillery announced the launch of a new, approachable American whiskey.
Tallbird American Whiskey

This release was crafted as a gateway expression on par with whiskeys made during the spirit’s “Golden Age” in the 1950s and 60s. Tallbird American Whiskey blends straight 7-year-old bourbons distilled in Kentucky at Bardstown Bourbon Company and Tennessee at TN Distilling. They were then transferred to Guthrie, Oklahoma, where they were married and aged in 53-gallon New American White Oak barrels with a Level 3-4 char.
According to the brand, the result is a multi-layered 93-proof whiskey that opens with notes of marzipan, cardamom, candied orange peels, and tropical fruits, including mangoes. The palate is centered on notes of butterscotch candy, toasted graham crackers, and fresh leather. The finish is long, warm, velvety smooth, and ends with a blend of caramelized sugar and oak. Best enjoyed neat or on the rocks, it’s also well-suited as a base for an Old Fashioned, Whiskey Sour, Manhattan, and any of your favorite whiskey-based cocktails.
“We’re committed to creating spirits as unique and distinctive as those who enjoy them,” says Jeffrey Cole, Head Distiller at Wanderfolk Distillery.
“Tallbird is a Whiskey of the Golden Age – a time when a well-aged bourbon wasn’t something you paid a premium for and when quality was something you could expect without a sky-high price tag. Good doesn’t have to be expensive.”
