If you’ve never tried any American single malt whiskey yet, you’re totally missing out on some amazing expressions. A great example is New Riff. Recently, the popular distillery announced the release of its fourth installment in the award-winning Single Malt Whiskey series.
New Riff Single Malt Whiskey 2026

The 2026 batch of New Riff Single Malt Whiskey begins with a mash bill of 100% malted barley. This includes 11.7% Marris Otter, 14.1% Golden Promise, 27.7% of a beer-inspired Barleywine, 16.5% Belgian Quadrupel, 18% Scottish peated barley, and 12% Chevallier. These six mash bills are matured in five different cask types, including new charred oak, de-charred toasted oak, used bourbon barrels, Spanish oloroso sherry casks, and Pedro Ximenez Sherry casks.
According to New Riff, the result is a memorable, balanced 111.7-proof single malt that opens with a nose of dark fruit, cacao, and smoky citrus. The palate is loaded with oak, sweet fruit, sherry, and smoke. The finish is centered on candied orange peels and peat smoke.
“This is one of the most creative whiskeys we make, and a blend we look forward to revisiting every year,” Master Distiller Brian Sprance says.
“These whiskeys are inspired by malted barleys used in the brewing industry, reimagined through our Kentucky regimen. This year, we were especially excited to introduce Chevallier malt into the blend, a variety that brings a distinct character and adds another layer to the overall profile,” he adds.
