St. Croix-based Cruzan Rum isn’t messing around. Just in time for the warmer months, the popular spirits brand is launching its oldest aged rum to date. It’s called Cruzan Island Reserve 13 Year Old, and if you’re a rum drinker, it should be the newest addition to your home bar.
Cruzan Island Reserve 13-Year-Old
This new expression from Cruzan Rum isn’t simply a rum that was matured for thirteen years. No, it’s a blend of thirteen, sixteen, and twenty-year-old rums. Each was matured in ex-bourbon barrels before being hand-selected and blended by a team that was led by Quality Manager Cole McCreary.
According to the brand, the result is a sophisticated sipping rum that begins with a nose of dried fruit, coconut, honey, caramel, and oak. Sipping it reveals hints of honey, citrus peels, caramel, vanilla, dried fruit, and oak. The finish is long and smooth, leaving you craving more.
“The Island Reserve represents the best of what our blending team can do here in St. Croix,” McCreary said.
“Every so often, some of these treasures wash ashore on the mainland, so to speak, and we’re thrilled to share this inaugural 13 Year Old batch with consumers – I think this will be hugely appreciated by rum fans and folks who love sipping well-aged whiskies alike.”
Where can I buy it?
Cruzan Island Reserve 13-Year-Old is available across the US at alcohol retailers for the suggested retail price of $39.99 for a 750ml bottle. A portion of the sales of this limited-edition expression goes to Cruzan’s Island Spirit Fund, which gives back to the St. Croix community.
