There aren’t any bigger names in the bourbon world than Buffalo Trace. This brand is known for its epic portfolio of bourbons. Recently, the brand announced a new, soon-to-be highly sought-after expression, and it’s not just another small batch offering, it’s the oldest age-stated bourbon ever released by the iconic Kentucky brand.
Eagle Rare 30
Back in 2023, the distillery launched Eagle Rare 25. Now, it’s building on that successful release with the launch of Eagle Rare 30. The second whiskey, Eagle Rare 30, aged in the distillery’s experimental Warehouse P, spent a minimum of 3 decades aging in new, charred American oak barrels.
According to Buffalo Trace, the result is a complex 101-proof whiskey that begins with scents of cherries, brown sugar, honey, candied nuts, pipe tobacco, charred oak, and gentle smoke. The palate is centered on notes of stone fruit and caramel. The finish is long, warm, and ends with oak, sweetness, and light smoke. Best enjoyed neat or with a splash or two of water, this is sure to be a highly coveted whiskey by bourbon drinkers and collectors alike.
“Eagle Rare 30 is not simply about time, it is about what time can reveal,” Buffalo Trace Distillery Master Distiller Harlen Wheatley says.
“Aging whiskey in Kentucky comes with inherent challenges: evaporation increases and barrel influence intensifies, which can lead to overly dry or astringent characteristics in older bourbons. The environment within Warehouse P allows us to manage those effects, softening the extraction and preserving the nuanced flavors that define exceptional ultra-aged bourbon.”
Where can I buy it?
Beginning in May, Eagle Rare 30 will be available in limited quantities through Sazerac’s global distributor network at the suggested retail price of $12,500 per 750ml bottle.
