Grammy award-winning musician Chris Stapleton and Buffalo Trace Distillery Master Distiller Harlen Wheatley are teaming up again to launch a new version of the company’s popular Traveller Whiskey. While the original version of Blend No. 40 is 90-proof, the new version is a full-proof expression, clocking in at a potent 121-proof.
Traveller Whiskey Full Proof

Called Traveller Whiskey Full Proof, this is the first new Traveller Whiskey since the line began in January of 2024. According to Buffalo Trace, this soon-to-be highly sought-after expression is centered on notes of toasted oak, baking spices, caramelized sugar, vanilla, warm toffee, and dark fruit. It’s a balanced, complex blended whiskey that deserves to be enjoyed neat or with a splash or two of water to open up the aromas and flavors.
“Prior to collaborating with Harlen Wheatley and Buffalo Trace Distillery on Traveller Whiskey, I generally leaned toward higher-proof and barrel-strength bottles,” Stapleton says.
“Needless to say, when we decided to experiment with a higher-proof expression, I was excited to see where that could land. One night after a show, we had two potential Full Proof contenders backstage with the band and some friends. Everyone agreed 121 was the clear winner. It’s the same easy-to-drink DNA, just turned up a few notches. I think Traveller Whiskey Full Proof is one of those moments where more of a good thing is definitely a good thing.”
Where can I buy it?

Initially released in limited quantities, Traveller Full Proof is available at whiskey retailers, bars, restaurants, and other locations for a suggested retail price of $39.99 for a 750ml bottle.
