Omega just dropped James Bond’s new watch, but it won’t be live action quite yet

We have been waiting for 5 years for a new James Bond. But, alas, the powers that be at Amazon and MGM are taking their sweet time moving it forward. Which, practicality says, is a good thing. But, dammit, I am impatient and need some Bond in my life. Lucky for all the other James Bond faithful and me, we get some James Bond content headed our way this month. 007 First Light is the first James Bond video game to drop in almost a decade and a half. But we aren’t just going to get the debonair spy in the video game world; we get something else to drool over, a real-life version of his new watch from Omega.

007 First Light moves forward like a film

James Bond is deeply tied to his watch. The Rolex Submariner became associated with the spy when Sean Connery wore it in the sixties. Then Omega took over for Pierce Brosnan and has been providing their own gadget-stuffed luxury timepiece for nine straight movies. With this being the tenth version fans can buy (without the gadgets, of course), it seems the video game is getting the movie treatment for the first time.

It bears resemblence to the final two Craig wore in his films, with the NATO strap similar to the SPECTRE watch, and patina hints calling back to the No Time to Die version. With ceramic pushers and a special 007 First Light caseback, this is a one of a kind piece perfect for any James Bond fan, or real life spy…we won’t tell.

Shinola has made watches about Detroit, about the Apollo program, and about a lake monster. Its newest one is about a sailboat race, and damn, is it good-looking.

The Detroit-based brand is launching the Mackinac Night Race, a limited edition built around the yacht timer — the countdown complication used to time the start of a sailing race, aka one of watchmaking's more specialized tricks. The name nods to the Great Lakes maritime history the watch draws on (so not technically an official race tie-in).

One of the most iconic ways a man can stand out is to make a statement with his style. Now, this isn't as easy as it sounds.
