Fashion designers litter the horizon across the menswear space. Each one brings a different vision to the landscape of men’s clothing. Some are basic and simple, leaning heavily on solid colors, classic pieces, and expert tailoring. Others preach to their customer base that expressing yourself through your clothing is easiest with bright colors, bold patterns, and silhouettes that stand out among the sea of classic run-of-the-mill garments. J.McLaughlin is one of the best at finding that middle ground and providing pieces for both the former and the latter. In their new collection, they teamed up with iconic interior designer Mark Sikes for a fresh take on menswear seen nowhere else in the industry. After designing Jill Biden’s White House spaces and heading across the street to transform Blair House (sometimes called the White House Guest House), Sikes brings looks to the forefront at J.McLaughlin you can’t miss.
White and blue everywhere

If you take a look at Sikes’ portfolio on his website, there is one thing that stands out to me: he surely loves to use his stripes. And he REALLY loves blue and white. The couches, beds, drapes, and every other surface in places like his Palm Beach Village, Malibu Beach House, and Marin County Cottage are draped in blue stripes. One look at his collection for J.McLaughlin and you can see the influence of his work. Blue is the color of the collection. Every single piece is blue, white, or a combination of the two. That creates a nautical look that is perfect for the Northeastern summer.
Standout pieces for the Mark Sikes collection are the Michael Jacket, with the utility pockets and trench belt. The striped version of the iconic J.McLaughlin Fancy Pants. And the Mark Tailoring double-breasted gold-buttoned blazer. There is still time this summer to don the nautical look and create a world of blue and white in your wardrobe.
