The Ritz-Carlton has officially entered the safari space with the opening of The Ritz-Carlton Masai Mara Safari Camp, which recently welcomed its first guests in Kenya’s world-famous Masai Mara National Reserve.
Located near the Kenya-Tanzania border, the new retreat features 20 luxury tented suites, including a Presidential Villa, each set on raised platforms overlooking the river and savannah. The design, by LW Design, blends natural materials and open-air spaces inspired by biophilic design, allowing nature to flow seamlessly through each tent. Guests can relax in private plunge pools and outdoor showers, or stargaze from their own decks.
Inside, the camp celebrates Kenyan craftsmanship, with hand-carved wood, woven textiles, and traditional Maasai beadwork. Guests are paired with a personal Encholiek, a Maasai guide and host, who provides cultural insight and ensures an authentic, personalized experience.
Activities include game drives, hot air balloon safaris, and Maasai-led cultural programs, offering a luxurious yet immersive way to experience one of Africa’s most iconic landscapes.
An experience among the trees

At The Ritz-Carlton Masai Mara Safari Camp, guests can sleep and dine among the trees with amazing views of the savannah. The camp’s signature restaurant, Nest, serves globally inspired dishes with bold African flavors, while Canopy, the bar and lounge, offers creative cocktails and small plates. Guests can even take part in the Spice of Africa ritual, blending their own mix of local spices for gin or cocktails.
For a truly special experience, the Upeo Sky Deck hosts dinners under the stars with telescopic stargazing, and the Wine Cellar features sommelier-led tastings and multi-course meals. Evenings at the traditional Boma include Maasai music, storytelling, and grilled local dishes. Bush breakfasts, sundowners, and in-suite dining round out the experience.
The Whispering Tree Spa takes inspiration from the sacred acacia trees of the Maasai. Treatments use local ingredients like aloe and marula, beginning with a calming water blessing and foot soak. Guests can also enjoy yoga, meditation, and traditional healing rituals. A fitness center, outdoor pool, and herbal tea lounge complete this peaceful wellness retreat.
Rates start from $3,500 per person, per night.
