How to make a Cinnamon Rhubarb Daiquiri for winter’s arrival

Mount Gay Rum's winterized take on a classic

Mount Gay Eclipse
Mount Gay

By now, you probably know that we like to send the sunny spirits right into winter. That’s right, rum and tequila do exceptionally well even on the Thanksgiving dinner table or near the fire during a December snowfall. A good recipe might even evoke some much-needed beach thoughts.

With a Daiquiri, you’re basically dealing with a three-ingredient cocktail. But those three ingredients can differ a bit, or have certain treatments to make them a little more unusual. The rum is rum and the citrus s citrus, but the sweetener can vary some.

  • 3/4 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 3/4 ounce cinnamon bark syrup*
  • 3 dashes fees rhubarb bitters

*Cinnamon Bark Syrup: In saucepan, muddle 1 ounce cinnamon bark until it is in shards. Add 2 cups sugar and 2 cups water and slowly bring to a boil. Reduce and simmer for 4 minutes. Let sit overnight. Double strain into container.

Method:

  1. Combine all ingredients in shaker with ice.
  2. Shake and strain into a coupe glass.

Tequila Corralejo Introduces Smaller Bottle For the First Time in More Than 250 Years
Alcohol, Beer, Beverage

If you’ve walked into a Mexican bar or restaurant, chances are you’ve noticed the big blue bottle of tequila. Corralejo is famous for its tall, slim bottles that come in 750 milliliters and 1.75 liters. The 750-milliliter bottle is the standard size you’ve probably become familiar with. Corralejo also has clear bottles for its Blanco, red bottles for its Añejo, and a tall, round, bright blue bottle for its Triple Distilled Tequilas, among other shapes and types.

It’s been this way for decades and decades. But for the first time, Corralejo is meeting the demand for smaller, easily digestible, and giftable bottles. Arriving ahead of Hispanic Heritage Month and Mexican Independence Day in September, Corralejo is introducing the 375ml Reposado bottle, which aims to create “a timely entry point into Tequila Corralejo’s more than 250 years of tequila-making heritage, while offering a right-sized option for intimate gatherings, gifting, and cocktail occasions.”
