According to a recent food & beverage trend report by Tastewise, the leading food & beverage intelligence platform, functional coffee foam is the coffee trend coming soon in 2026. Coffee lovers are now seeking even more than just cold foam– they want cold foam that offers even more benefits, such as stress relief, metabolism support, or hormone balance support. Functional cold foam often combines flavors like lavender or adaptogenic herbs or adds protein for a health-forward choice that resonates with today’s wellness-minded consumers.

The rise of functional cold coffee foam proves that coffee is no longer just about caffeine delivery. On the contrary, it’s become a personal indulgence and an Instagrammable experience for coffee drinkers. Starbucks’ recently launched protein cold foam coffees are just the start of this rising trend, according to research by Tastewise. Though cold foam once started as a TikTok barista trick, trends show cold foam menu mentions at up 161% YoY, and consumer interest has jumped 57%.

Miriam Aniel Oved, Head of Integrated Marketing at Tastewise, explains that consumers expect more from coffee amid rising costs, commenting: “With rising coffee prices, our cups are only getting more exquisite – something that might seem paradoxical at first, but makes perfect sense. When coffee delivers both indulgence and purpose, consumers are willing to pay a premium. Brands can even turn price hikes into a positive, transforming coffee from a pick-me-up into self-care. This is where maximalist coffee shines: layered textures, functional ingredients, smoky pours, and unexpected flavor pairings. It’s no longer about how much you spend on a cup, but how good and elevated it feels.”

Gin is one of the only spirits that you see on a shelf, and regardless of the quality, you assume you’re going to take it home and mix it with other ingredients to make a cocktail. Even if they enjoy the juniper, floral, and botanical aromas and flavors of their favorite gin, they still prefer to mix it with other ingredients to make it more palatable.

But it also shouldn’t surprise you that some people enjoy drinking their gin neat or at least prefer a gin that they could drink neat if they chose to do so. Personally, I am one of those people. I enjoy gin so much that I try my best not to mask its flavors with overpowering ingredients. Sure, I like a good Gin & Tonic from time to time. But it’s definitely going to be heavier on gin than tonic if you know what I mean.
