Tequila Corralejo Introduces Smaller Bottle For the First Time in More Than 250 Years

If you’ve walked into a Mexican bar or restaurant, chances are you’ve noticed the big blue bottle of tequila. Corralejo is famous for its tall, slim bottles that come in 750 milliliters and 1.75 liters. The 750-milliliter bottle is the standard size you’ve probably become familiar with. Corralejo also has clear bottles for its Blanco, red bottles for its Añejo, and a tall, round, bright blue bottle for its Triple Distilled Tequilas, among other shapes and types.

It’s been this way for decades and decades. But for the first time, Corralejo is meeting the demand for smaller, easily digestible, and giftable bottles. Arriving ahead of Hispanic Heritage Month and Mexican Independence Day in September, Corralejo is introducing the 375ml Reposado bottle, which aims to create “a timely entry point into Tequila Corralejo’s more than 250 years of tequila-making heritage, while offering a right-sized option for intimate gatherings, gifting, and cocktail occasions.”

More specifically, Corralejo hopes the new, smaller size bottle will offer consumers an approachable way to discover the brand’s most popular expression while preserving the same tequila, craftsmanship, and distinctive presentation found across its existing portfolio.

“As the demand for smaller formats continues to grow, we wanted to offer consumers a flexible and accessible way to experience the quality and craftsmanship that defines our Reposado, our most popular expression,” said Susan Gibbons, Vice President of Marketing, Infinium Spirits, in a statement.

It goes without saying that while the bottle size is a new option, the tequila remains unchanged. It’s still made with 100 percent estate-grown Blue Weber agave and aged for four months in a combination of American oak and French Limousin oak. New to Corralejo? Expect sweet aromas of vanilla, honey, spice, and oak, followed by notes of lemon-lime peppercorn and agave, all with a smooth, warm finish you’ve come to expect from Mexico’s favorite spirit.

Corralejo’s Legendary History

Corralejo is the oldest commercial distillery in Mexico, with roots dating back to 1755 in Guanajuato, home to Hacienda Corralejo. Legend has it that the estate, now a national landmark, is the birthplace of Don Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla, the prominent Mexican priest-turned-leader of the Mexican War of Independence.

Corralejo boasts being the first estate in Mexico to produce tequila on a commercial scale, and it remains family-owned and operated.

Tequila Corralejo Reposado can be enjoyed neat, on the rocks, or as a spirit for your favorite margarita recipe. The 375ml is bottled at 40% alcohol. It’s available now with an SRP of $17.99 or $18.99, depending on the market.
