Fairway function to free time style: Kevin Hart loves golf and Fabletics

Dive into what Kevin Hart loves about the game of golf

Field, Adult, Male
Fabletics

Recently, I got an opportunity to hang out at Five Iron Golf, an indoor golf simulator with a bar in the Flatiron neighborhood in NYC, with Fabletics. I spent most of my time at the bar, but I did find out I am a worse golfer indoors than I am outdoors. So, if I am a bad golfer, why go to an event that would put me in front of a bunch of people swinging a club? Well, the free old-fashioneds for one, and the opportunity to be in proximity to one of the busiest men in Hollywood, Kevin Hart.

You see, the event was to launch Hart’s collection with Fabletics, and it is a brilliant crossroads between fairway function and free time style. It even has a few pieces in that pine green the brand does so well with. I got an opportunity to watch Hart hang out in the simulator, and you can tell he truly loves the game. And, I got a chance to ask him a few questions about the collection itself.

You can respect the game and still bring some personality to it. That’s important to me. I like looking put together. But I don’t want to feel like I’m wearing a costume just because I’m playing golf. I still want to look like me. – Kevin Hart

Why golf?

Look, as a lifelong baseball player, I didn’t understand the game of golf for a long time. Hell, I didn’t understand why you would want to walk that much, honestly. Then I started to get into it a little more and began to see the appeal. It was less about the game and more about the experience and the journey. It tested me at every turn and gave me a reason to hang out with my guys. I also started loving asking men what brought them to the game. So, of course, that was my first question for Kevin.

“What pulled me into golf was the challenge. I’m a competitive person by nature, and golf is one of those games that will humble you real quick. You can have a great hole and think you figured it all out, and then the next one reminds you that you absolutely have not. I love that. It’s also one of the few games where you compete against yourself. So each time you go out, you can only do better. But I also love everything around the game. You’re outside, you’re with your people, you’re having conversations, you’re competing, but you’re also having fun.”

The importance of what you wear

Look, I am a style guy. I know the importance of looking put together and feeling great. What does Deion Sanders say? “If you look good, you feel good; if you feel good, you play good; if you play good, they pay good.” The golf course is no different. And that is where Hart’s collection comes into play. So, I asked him what it was about the clothes he wears on the course that made him want to go down the road of creating his own collection.

“Golf has its traditions, and I respect all of that, but I also think there’s room to have some fun with what you wear and make it your own. Your style should say something about you. For me, that means I want pieces that look good, feel good, and let me move. And I want that same outfit to make sense when I walk off the course. If I can feel good, move well, play 18, and still look good when we’re done? That’s a win.”

Why Fabletics

Fabletics is one of the premier athliesure, workout, and style brands on the market. It is one of the best at providing high-quality without breaking the bank. This collection is no different, with the added bonus that it displays Kevin’s new logo, “Get Your Hart On.” An asterisk with the top two lines in red, resembling a heart. But I wanted to know why he chose to connect his friends at Fabletics with his passion for golf.

“For me, it was simple: give people something that performs but still has some personality. I want to be able to move. I want to be comfortable. And yes, I want to look good. I’m not giving that part up. Why should I? Most people are going out there to compete a little bit, talk a little trash, have some fun with their friends, and enjoy the day. You want clothes that can keep up with all of it. You can play, walk off the course, and keep your day moving without feeling like you’re still wearing your “golf outfit.” That’s what I created with Fabletics. Performance is there. Style is there. Comfort is there.”

Best of the best…Hart’s go-tos

I always want to know what pieces in a collection someone loves. It does two things for me. 1 – I get to see what pieces speak to people in different lifestyles and what works for them in their daily life. In this case, I get to see what he truly wears on the course and in the world. 2 – I get a real insight into whether or not they actually believe in the collection, or if this was just a way to get their name on something. In this case, Hart truly seems to be a customer as much as a spokesman.

“The Don Polo and The Don Trouser Pant  – it’s a clean combination for when I’m on the course. The Don Polo can handle the heat and whatever else I throw its way so that by the end of 18 holes, it still looks fresh. The Don Trouser is a classic that will make you feel and look like a boss on and off the green.”

If you haven’t gotten your “Hart On,” then let Kevin convince you that you should be embarrassed to show up at a course without a “Hart On.”

If you’re convinced, here is where you can “Get your Hart On.” Ok, I have said that enough.

Ditching the boring golf gear: Travis Mathew and Liberty London collaborate to bring personality to the course
Chair, Furniture, Person

I remember watching golf when I was a kid; everyone, and I mean everyone, looked the same. There are rules on a golf course. A collared shirt, no denim, a very specific look is what they go for. It is tradition, and tradition is hard to argue with. Then came Tiger Woods and John Daly. Tiger found a way to make this boring tradition a uniform. You could see the red Nike polo and black pants and knew exactly who it was. Daly? Well, he went the other way and patterns became a wild calling card. Travis Mathew and Liberty London found a way to mix both of these concepts to bring a bold new look to the game of golf.

What makes this collaboration particularly exciting is seeing Liberty’s heritage designs and colour language brought into the world of golf in such a fresh way. The striking print combinations, considered handfeel, and balance of high-performance golfwear with relaxed lifestyle pieces create a collaboration that feels both unexpected and distinctly Liberty. – Pere Bruach, Design Manager at Liberty London

Armando Rodriguez basketball player

For basketball enthusiasts, there’s something uniquely inviting and invigorating about the sport. The squeaks as the players move around the shiny court, the whoosh of the spinning ball through the air, and the rush of victory when the basketball glides smoothly through the hoop or bounces off the backboard before the descent. The fast thinking, maneuvers, strategy, and thrill of the game draw people who play for decades.

Sometimes, people are suddenly facing life-changing circumstances that cause them to turn away from the game they love. For skilled basketball player Armando Rodriguez, he stopped playing after a complete T9 spinal cord injury at the young age of 25.
