I am a fan of vehicles. Cars are a bit of a mystery to me. I know enough to know that my expertise ends with the go-pedal and the aux cord. That doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate an unbelievable machine. And that is what is showing up at Villa La Massa Excellence next month. From October 16-18, the most incredible supercars in the world will be on display for lovers of cars that leave nothing to be desired. If you are ready to see some stellar machines, this edition features the Ferrari F80, F12tdf, and LaFerrari; Lamborghini Murcielago; McLaren P1; Maserati MC12; Porsche 911 Carrera RS Club Sport and 959 Evo Dakar; Bentley Continental GT Number 9 Edition by Mulliner; and Prodrive P25.

This year’s field is truly exceptional. We have extraordinary cars that will capture the attention of enthusiasts and industry professionals alike. – Luigi Orlandini, Chairman and CEO of Canossa Events

Nearly a hundred years of supercars

This version of the event is only a few years old. But it leans on the traditions laid out by the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, which began in 1929 for contemporary/classic cars, but shifts the focus entirely to extraordinary modern supercars, hypercars, and bespoke automotive masterpieces.

“Villa d’Este has hosted the concours since 1929,” says Davide Bertilaccio, CEO of Villa d’Este S.p.A. “Helping to define the very concept of automotive elegance. With Villa La Massa Excellence, we have chosen to do the same for the automobiles of our time: to recognize, here in Florence today, the cars that will be considered classics thirty years from now. It is a process of selection and judgment that we take very seriously, and the fact that the field is already fully booked weeks ahead of the fourth edition tells us that collectors recognize its value”

The Porsche models you need to know as the 2027 models start landing
Machine, Wheel, Car

When was the first time you saw a Porsche? I remember the first time I heard about one was when I read Along Came a Spider by James Patterson. The first book in the Alex Cross series. The main character, Detective Alex Cross, drove a Porsche 911 in the earlier books. When Morgan Freeman took on the character in two movies, he also drove one. That is it; that was the extent of my knowledge on the car company. Then I started traveling around and seeing the distinctive front ends all over the place. I now got curious. They weren’t all 911s; there were Boxters, three-digit numbers, convertibles, SUVs, and everything short of a truck to choose from.

What are the differences? Here is a list of the models you may see on the road from the more stylish drivers.

Porsche just proved the Cayenne Electric is the most impressive performance vehicle you can drive
Car, Transportation, Vehicle

I have seen the movies. I know there is no way that a car can survive in the jet blast of a plane. I remember the scene from Casino Royale. And for me, that is science. But the engineers at Porsche and Stratolaunch aren’t so sure. They operate in the real world of science, and they came together to see if the Porsche Cayenne Electric could withstand the take-off power of one of the largest and most powerful aircraft in the world. Why? Because they can and because curiosity oftentimes leads to something awesome. Spoiler alert…the car holds up. But don’t take my word for it.

The car is its own beast. It’s got the ability to keep up and play in this space. – Orlando Bloom, Porsche ambassador
