A Porsche is one of the most recognizable cars on the road. You always know when you are looking at one. So, it stands to reason that people love them, right? Of course they do. But loving a car and knowing how to drive one are very different. What is it that Ja Rule said in The Fast and the Furious? “We know a few things. And one of the things we knows is, it isn’t how you stand by your car, it is how to drive your car. You better learn that.” How do you learn to drive a Porsche? At the Porsche Track Experience, which has offered programs on everything from a single-day basics class up to a three-day advanced course.
Now, the team behind PTX is expanding into new offerings for the car.
Nothing compares to the experience of driving a Porsche with the beating heart of a race car. – Timo Resch, President and CEO of Porsche Cars North America.
The new offerings

They aren’t just running out any run-of-the-mill driving experiences; Porsche is giving you control of the 911 GT3 in unprecedented ways.
“Nothing compares to the experience of driving a Porsche with the beating heart of a race car,” said Timo Resch, President and CEO of Porsche Cars North America. “The 911 GT3 doesn’t just promise, but delivers a motorsport-derived driving experience, one that’s rooted in real-world competition. The best way to truly appreciate what makes a GT3 special is from behind the wheel, and there is no better place to do that than on a racetrack with professional instruction.”
GT Drift is the first new program, half a day focused exclusively on mastering car control when the rear and front tires are no longer traveling in the same direction (no big deal). Starting in a classroom covering the fundamentals of vehicle dynamics, participants then head out to the skid pad and then engage in trail braking exercises, rotation practice, and other drifting skills. Using only the 911 GT3, the course gives drivers a unique opportunity to explore the limits of one of Porsche’s most exciting production cars in a safe, controlled environment. GT Drift will cost a cool $1,500 per participant.
The second new offering from the PTX program is Masters GT, a new three-day advanced driving program, again exclusively using the GT3. Invitation-only graduates of the Masters RS course, Masters GT will get the most concentrated and refined driver development experience in the PTX portfolio. They will spend three days in the 911 GT3, emphasising increased track time, detailed performance analysis, and personalized coaching. Beginning at the Barber Proving Grounds, drivers dedicate the first day to sharpening advanced vehicle control skills. The next two days shift to the racetrack, alternating between open lapping sessions and comprehensive data review. This program is for the true Porsche fans, as it runs a whopping $23K.
