TGIF Shopping: AETHER Apparel Launches Pre-Fall Collection

Just in time for the summer’s end comes the launch of AETHER Apparel’s pre-fall ‘15 collection, three items as practical in functionality as they are sporty-chic in design.

The 3-piece collection is comprised of the Transport jacket, Tracker Hoodie and Bike Pant. Each piece’s technical design and clean, straightforward aesthetic allow for optimum functionality whether that be on your way to work or on your way up a mountainside for a weekend of camping.

The Transport ($395) is a city jacket designed for the bike-to-work commuter. It features understated reflective piping on the back seams and a subtly elongated tail to improve rider comfort. It’s made from a 3-layer, hard-shell fabric that is fully waterproof while allowing for breathability.

“But what if I get sweaty?” The jacket regulates your body heat with pit zips and subtle front-chest vents. “But what if it gets rainy?” Because of its seam-sealed construction and weathproofed zippers, it’s able to keep you dry during a light drizzle or heavy downpour. “But what if I’m cold?” The jacket features zippered hand-warmer pockets. “But what about my music?” On the inside, a zippered pocket features an audio valve for headphones.

“This is one of the styles that is a true representation of what AETHER does,” says co-founder Palmer West, “It’s loaded with technicality but still fits right into an office environment. It’s a great looking jacket for the urban commuter.”

The Tracker Hoodie ($195) is made from high-performance merino French terry that is breathable, odor resistant and thermally insulating, easily adaptable for any weather extreme. The soft yarn allows for a slight stretch, providing the wearer a greater range of motion. Plus, a secret zippered pocket at the chest allows you to store small essentials like a lighter or pocket knife.

The Bike Pant ($195) is crafted from highly breathable, water-repellent stretch-twill Schoeller® fabric. It’s both a riding pant and an office pant, conforming to the fit of a casual work slack with the subtle stretch of an athletic pant. Subtle bike-friendly features have been integrated into the design, including a reflective back-pocket flap that can be tucked in while at work and untucked for the ride home and 3XDRY® wicking technology that quickly dries sweat.

3sixteen and Saucony drop a naturally dyed “Gesso” trail shoe
Saucony, 3sixteen release a new collaborative collection
pile of new saucony shoes

While Saucony has plenty of sneaker options with footwear features that seem like their own art form, its latest release is inspired by the beauty of art. Along with 3sixteen, Saucony has unveiled its latest collection, which draws inspiration from the typical primer artists use on canvases before creating. Gesso works by enhancing paint absorption and acting as a base for artists to express themselves, something Saucony looks to replicate with their colorful lineup. Serving as a canvas to express yourself, these new sneakers allow users to personalize their shoes to display their personalities best. Using different textures, materials, and dyes, this collaborative collection is another innovative process that lands in footwear, which looks to make each shoe unique and one-of-a-kind to its owners.

Stop playing it safe: The confident guy’s guide to bold shoes
Let brand president, Mike Kelly, teach you how to wear unique shoes
TAFT Floral dress shoes close up

Sometimes men's clothes can get boring. They can get stale. Walk into any men's clothing store and you could drown in a sea of blue. We sometimes settle into our blues and grays and have difficulty expressing ourselves through our appearance. Maybe it is complacency. Perhaps we lose our confidence. Whatever it is, finding a way to stand out from the men who tend to fade into the background is a skill every guy needs to learn by the time they are in their mid-30s. This is when we are told to sit down and be quiet. But, there are ways to stand up and be seen, speak up and be heard, without any movement or any words. TAFT is a company that specializes in men's shoes and how to make them your statement piece. They can send a message before you even introduce yourself to someone new. I was able to sit down with TAFT Brand President, Mike Kelly, to get an idea of how to wear shoes as a statement instead of a function.

"Let’s be real—guys like getting compliments just as much as anyone else," Kelly says. "TAFT designs shoes that get noticed, not because they’re loud for the sake of it, but because they’re different in all the right ways. It’s about helping men feel confident, express themselves, and bring a little personality to the everyday."
