New Music Monday: The Midnight Hollow

Listed as a “Band to Watch” by influential music blog, StereoGum, New York City based band, The Midnight Hollow, is led by singer and multi instrumentalist Spencer Draeger, with Andrew Segreti on drums. Full line up for live shows is Matt Liebowitz on bass, Vahak “V” Janbazian on percussion and Katie Lee Campo on keyboards. The band has gained a lot of attention locally, and quickly, from their hypnotic shows, unpredictable stage presence and tendency to focus on keeping sets half improv and loose.

In 2013, the band officially released their first song “Downstairs” for a compilation on French based label, Zappruder Records. In June of 2014, they released a surreal 60s psychedelic cult classic style video for “Her Morning Glow.” The Midnight Hollow recently self released their first EP in summer of 2014 with a second one set to release in Winter.

Bill Hader will co-write a new HBO series about the Jonestown massacre

The story of Jonestown has been infamous for almost 50 years.

If you watched Barry all the way through to its conclusion, you're likely aware that Bill Hader is a kind of dark guy. He's always talking about his fascination with serial killers and murderers, and now he's channeling that fascination into a project for HBO. Variety is reporting that Hader will co-write and potentially star in a new HBO series about the infamous Jonestown massacre.

Hader is co-writing the series with Daniel Zelman, and while it's still in development, the show could potentially be Hader's next star vehicle with HBO, where he also worked on Barry.

The first teaser for Wednesday season 2 is gearing us up for an August premiere

The show had a three-year gap between seasons.

When Wednesday first debuted in 2022, it almost immediately became one of the biggest shows in the history of Netflix. Now, after three years, fans are finally getting the show's second season. Based on the trailer, it looks like the vibes that fans loved from the first season are back in full force, as is Jenna Ortega's central performance.

Like many of Netflix's biggest shows, Wednesday season 2 will actually have two premiere dates, with the first half of the season debuting on Aug. 6 and the second half a month later on Sept. 3. Those premiere dates will give all the Wednesday fans in your lifetime to prepare their Halloween costumes for the year.

Because it's still a relatively new streaming service, and because it didn't come into existence with a back catalog, Apple TV+'s library is thinner than most. Even so, the streamer has managed to build a subscriber base in part by investing heavily in quality shows, and specifically in quality shows with a sci-fi twist.

Severance is one of the best shows on television, and it seems like a guarantee that it will be heavily awarded at the next Emmy ceremony.
