A new study has crowned Miami as the best big city in the U.S. to celebrate Christmas, proving you do not need snow on the ground to get into the holiday spirit. The research team at Luxury France Tours analyzed 50 major American cities across 23 metrics to determine which destinations truly deliver the best Christmas experience.

The rankings were based on six categories: Traditions and Activities, Cost, Community and Charity, Shopping and Gift Options, Comfort and Weather, and overall Festive Appeal. Miami earned the highest overall score, thanks to its sheer abundance of holiday-friendly amenities and warm-weather charm.

Miami ranks first in the country for bakeries, gift shops, shopping centers, Christmas stores, toy and hobby shops, candy stores, card and stationery shops, and holiday décor stores on a per-resident basis. For visitors, that means easy access to pastries, last-minute gifts, and festive finds without traveling far. The city also boasts one of the highest concentrations of vacation rentals with indoor fireplaces and hot tubs, offering a “fake winter, real bubbles” experience despite averaging zero snowfall in December.

Community spirit also played a role in Miami’s top ranking. The city scores highly for congregations and charitable giving, suggesting plenty of opportunities for faith-based traditions and seasonal generosity. While hotel and dining prices are higher than average, the study found that Miami’s balance of sunshine, amenities, and festive energy outweighs the added cost.

Atlanta ranked second overall, praised for its strong community focus, ice skating rinks, and impressive shopping options, while Las Vegas claimed third place thanks to its abundance of Christmas events and relatively affordable hotels. At the other end of the list, New York City ranked last out of all 50 cities, weighed down by high prices and fewer amenities per resident, with Los Angeles also landing near the bottom.

Omni Boston Hotel at the Seaport: A Design-Forward Retreat in the Heart of Boston’s Waterfront
The jewel of the northeast is the perfect getaway
Architecture, Building, Office Building

It began at daybreak, as a white light poked through the split in the curtains, and I awoke from a night of slumber, and the sun opened up over Boston. I climbed out of bed, opened the curtains, with the Boston skyline across the horizon, and the harbor poking through the facades of glass and steel. Welcome to the Boston Seaport.

I was on a late spring excursion, with the Omni Boston Hotel at the Seaport as my headquarters, to explore the city’s newest district, where arts, culture, and activity intertwined. What would I find?

A Toast to World Gin Week in New York City
World Gin Week ends in New York with a juniper-fueled celebration at The Ivory Peacock and Ploume.
Bar, Chair, Furniture

If your week was anything like mine, you'll need a strong cocktail or three this weekend. Mercifully, the martinis will flow like water this Saturday in New York City for the grand finale of World Gin Week. For the past seven days, elite cocktail bars from Cape Town and Kyoto to Singapore and Mexico City have hosted panels, bartender residencies, and tastings in celebration of all things juniper. Think of it as the World Cup for cocktail connoisseurs.

Here in Gotham, World Gin Week culminates on June 20 at The Ivory Peacock, a craft cocktail mainstay in NoMad, and its subterranean sister bar, Ploume. The two venues will host pop-ups helmed by bartenders from cathedrals of mixology like Sip & Guzzle, Dante Aperitivo, and Room 207. Expect all manner of martini mania, along with gourmet hors d'oeuvres to ensure you're still standing at the evening's end.
