Portland just got a little more Italian, and a whole lot more fun. Chef Gabriel Pascuzzi, the hometown talent you might remember from Top Chef, has officially opened Hey Luigi, a lively new cocktail and pasta bar in Northwest Portland. Think aperitivo hour meets Portland cool: craft spritzes, fresh pasta, and inventive twists on Italian classics all served with that laid-back neighborhood vibe.
Located just across an urban green space from his wood-fired steakhouse Bistecca, Pascuzzi’s latest venture keeps things cozy, with room for 32 diners and a bar that practically begs for Negronis. The space also features a sunny patio perfect for summer nights.
Creative cocktails and reimagined Italian classics
At Hey Luigi, the drinks are every bit as imaginative as the food. The cocktail program, crafted by Beverage Director Natane Adams of Bistecca fame and Kyle Sanders, formerly of Multnomah Whiskey Library, takes a playful, Portland-style spin on Italy’s aperitivo tradition.
Signature sips include the Ciao Luigi, a sparkling, pear-forward cocktail that feels tailor-made for golden hour; the Evil Monkey, a moody, banana-driven showstopper topped with brûléed fruit; and the No! Groni, a clever non-alcoholic concoction.
On the food side, Pascuzzi’s menu offers both nostalgia and invention. You’ll find shareable plates like Nonna’s Bread, a beloved family recipe, alongside Prosciutto di Parma sliced to order, Anchovy Toast, and Habanero Smoked Oyster Dip with just the right kick.
Heartier options include hand-selected dry pastas imported from Italy, like Mezze Maniche alla Pesto made daily with mortar-and-pestle freshness, and Bucatini all’Amatriciana with a perfect touch of spice. There’s even a Hamburger al Fromaggio that fuses Italian finesse with an American favorite.
Hey Luigi is now open for both walk-ins and reservations.
