Luxury travel is heading into 2026 with serious momentum. According to a new report from Classic Vacations, high-end travelers are planning earlier, spending more, and prioritizing trips that feel deeply personal rather than simply impressive.
The company’s first-ever Luxury Travel Trends Report draws on insights from travel advisors across major consortia networks, including Travel Leaders Network, Virtuoso, and Signature. Together, these advisors serve U.S. luxury travelers and are already seeing clear patterns for the year ahead. Demand is rising, budgets are growing, and trips are increasingly tied to meaningful life moments.
“Advisors are seeing a clear shift in how luxury travelers explore the world,” said Classic Vacations CEO Melissa Krueger, noting a move toward intentional, experience-driven travel that goes beyond standard itineraries.
Where travelers are going and why it matters

When it comes to destinations, advisors say 2026 will balance tried-and-true favorites with slower, more immersive escapes. Internationally, top picks include Italy, Greece, Japan, Portugal, Croatia, and France. Domestically, luxury travelers are eyeing Hawaii, the Florida Keys, Napa Valley, New York City, and Scottsdale.
The motivation behind those bookings is just as telling. Advisors report that 77% expect luxury travel demand to increase in 2026, while 71% say clients are willing to invest more per trip. Milestone celebrations lead the charge, with 81% of advisors citing birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, and graduations as key booking drivers. Rest and relaxation follow closely at 67%, while 66% point to family time as a major factor.
Travelers are also planning far ahead. About 75% are booking five to 11 months in advance to secure preferred hotels and experiences. Beaches, cultural capitals, and lesser-known regions are all in demand, signaling that 2026 will be defined by slower, richer, and more intentional luxury travel.
