Teardrop travel trailers are the epitome of roadtrip minimalism. While most are built for the open road, many long-distance cyclists and bikepackers are also learning to enjoy the “creature comforts” of these featherweight tow-behind campers. Case in point: Nirvana Van’s simply named Bike Camper.
The company’s debut bicycle camper borrows heavily from traditional teardrop design, with a steeply arched roof to improve aerodynamics and reduce pedal effort. The lighter of the two available trims weighs just 119 pounds, while the base model is still surprisingly light at just under 150 pounds. The heftier option is on the heavy side compared to many other ultralight bike campers, but it would pair perfectly with a well-equipped electric bike.

Nirvana claims the Bike Camper is a proper four-season shelter, as both models come fully insulated. However, the company notes you’ll still want to pack cold-weather camping gear, including a zero-degree sleeping bag and plenty of warm layers. Think of it as one step up from a tent but not quite as “luxurious” as a legit vehicle-based teardrop trailer.
The base model is extremely stripped down, with only a mattress and storage shelf as standard. But the optional features list is comparable to what we’ve come to expect from traditional teardrops. Nirvana offers buyers almost 10 shell color options. A robust solar power setup is available, as are a porthole, opening windows, a camp kitchen, an awning, and more.
The Nirvana Bike Camper is available in two flavors. The base model Classic features a polypropylene and steel construction, while the flagship Premium offers a lighter-weight design of fiberglass and aluminum. Pricing starts at €3,500 (roughly $4,100) for the former and €3,900 ($4,575) for the latter. The only rub is that you’ll need to pick yours up in France.
