The latest addition to the Australian brand’s Xplorer line-up is its most versatile yet. It’s a compact, ultra-rugged, overlanding-ready travel trailer with a twist. Unlike most of its competition, HKC adds a gear-hauling platform to the rear, just under the rooftop tent. It’s purposefully sized to accommodate three dirt bikes or a single ATV. By adding a second axle and a beefy 6,500-pound winch at the front of the deck, it’s ready and fully capable of transporting your favorite powersports toys from the garage to the backcountry. Hardkorr also adds L-track and recessed D-rings throughout to allow for easy tie-down, and twin ramps stow away in a slimline compartment when not in use, but snap into place when you’re ready to wheel your toys up to the platform.
Up top is a robust rooftop tent setup. Instead of the typical three- or four-person models found in many off-road-ready travel trailers, HKC opted to keep things neat, tidy, and, most importantly, lighter weight by opting for a two-person hardshell alternative. A standard gas strut lift system allows you to raise the entire sleep space while loading the rear cargo deck. A compact staircase at the front of the rig ensures easy ingress and egress to the rooftop bedroom.
HKC packs a surprising amount of utility and convenience features into the compact Toy Hauler model. A full-featured outdoor kitchen with a slide-out sink and a 2,000-watt dual-burner induction cooktop is standard. An 80-liter slide-out fridge is also included on the passenger side of the rig. Front-end water hookups for the shower and kitchen sink provide running water at front-country campsites. You’ll need to pack your own portable composting toilet as HKC doesn’t include one, but a swing-out privacy tent is standard, so you can do your business in the backcountry in peace.
Not surprisingly, the Xplorer Toy Hauler is built with serious off-grid capability. At its core is a 270Ah onboard lithium-ion battery run through a 3,000-watt inverter that’s robust enough to power nearly any residential appliance you’d consider bringing camping. The included 510-watt solar array keeps everything topped up, whether you’re planning to explore for days or weeks.
The entire 18-foot-long setup rides on a hot-dipped galvanized steel chassis with an aluminum body construction and four-wheel, HD independent suspension. HKC even adds front airbags to the mix, so you can adjust your ball weight to match your load.

The HKC Xplorer Toy Hauler is available for pre-order with a starting price of $44,990 AUD (around $30,000 USD at the time of publication). Given the trailer’s considerable off-road chops and maximum versatility, that seems downright affordable. The only downside? U.S. buyers will need to either figure out a way to ship it Stateside or consider ditching most of their worldly possessions to travel the Australian outback indefinitely. (I’d choose the latter …)
