Even though the holiday season is over, the winter sports season is still in full swing. If you are planning to hit the slopes before the spring, there is a snowboard brand you should be aware of—Rome SDS.

Rome SDS was founded in 2001 by Josh Reid and Paul Maravetz, two longtime snowboarders from the sport’s earliest days in the 1980’s. The duo felt that the winter sports industry was lacking in products driven by the actual snowboard community, so they decided to start their own company.

Based out of Waterbury, Vermont, Rome is designing some of the most innovative snowboards on the market. Their No Hang-Ups 3D camber, with its diamond design in the base, has been a hit in the industry. As the guys at Rome told us, “The diamond allows the board to feel really playful and still deliver power and directional stability on the snow.”  One of the team’s favorite designs is the CrossRocket, which features Rome’s No Hang-Ups Pop profiling and is “a board that can do anything.”

Since Reid and Maravetz have been tied to snowboarding’s salad days, they pay homage to the sport’s history. All of their designs are an attempt to incorporate the original “3D” (three surfaced) designs of the earliest snowboards with some of the best technology available today. As the team explained:

“Our gear is built around the feedback we get from passionate snowboarders—pro riders, our supporters who wok in snowboard shops all over the world, and our in-house employees who all snowboard. We’re constantly testing and gathering feedback to make the best product available.”

If you know snow, and want to impress your friends and girls alike, get yourself on a Rome snowboard today.

Liam Neeson's career has been one of the most fascinating in Hollywood history. This Irish screen legend towers over his peers literally (he's 6'4'') and metaphorically (he's starred in Academy Award winners and blockbusters alike.) Neeson started out as a supporting actor in the 1980s before supplanting some of the biggest names in the industry. His rise to first-team status in the 1990s can be attributed to his unforgettable performance in Schindler's List.
