Controlling air flow through the bottom vents is used through one (and only one) source. Its sturdy and well-designed. Just what I needed to make my signature dish--slow-smoked brisket.so

Nice design &  wasn't too difficult to put together, took about 20 minutes Love the way the charcoal adds a great flavor to the meat.Even though this is a charcoal smoker, you still have ability to be able to put wood chips along with it too, which is great.You can use it as a grill, as a smoker, with charcoal, with wood chips, you can add apple cider to the water bowl for added flavor. We have cooked everything from burgers, fish and steaks to brisket on this smoker. the size is great for our smaller sized patio, and we love using it while entertaining our guests. It makes everything so much easier, that it's vertical and we can take it along to the beach, camping & outdoor parties, We foresee using it many summer weekends to come!

HOLY SMOKES!! literally

Even for like camping when don't want take big grill. I enjoy our meat and veggies heated up. It work perfectly since our backgrad supper small. N just did the job fantastic .

Cookout

I received this smoker for free in exchange for my unbiased opinion. I was so excited to try it but left town right after I received it and then the busieness of the holidays kept putting me off. I wanted to be sure to give it my honest review & be able to enjoy it without rushing to get my review in, and I'm so glad I did. My husband assembled it. He said the assembly was fairly easy, though it did take a little longer than the box stated. We had a New Years Eve party at our house so we thought this would be the perfect day to use it for the first time. We put a rack of ribs on top and a Boston butt on the bottom. We smoked the both for 8 hours. Our guests were impressed! Living in the south our friends and us have high expectations for BBQ. We were shocked with how authentic this tasted, just like something we would order from our favorite hole in the wall BBQ joint. We are having another get together this weekend for a friends birthday and will be breaking this baby out!! I highly recommend for anyone that is on the hunt for a quality smoker! User friendly Smoker that does the job well!

I have really enjoyed learning to use the Cuisinart smoker. As a novice, I found the unit extremely easy to setup and get started. I found the units size to be perfect for my small back porch. It fits nicely in one corner and the height doesn't require me to constantly bend over when using. 

Within the first week, I smoked two briskets and an amazing rack of pork ribs. I highly recommend starting small with a chicken or ribs - a brisket takes a long time and can be tricky until you get the hang of it.

The only issues I had include:
1) one of the clips that secures the bottom of the unit did not line up and therefore could not be latched
2) the lid of the smoker is often difficult to secure once the unit heats up
3) the built-in thermometer doesn't seem very accurate and it's hard to gauge the temperature on the lower rack. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Amazing smoker!

Was easy to put together. Had an old Brinkman vertical smoker that was about 20 years that was worn out. This one is a lot bigger than the Brinkman. Does leak a lot of smoke around the door and top. Got some gaskets material for smokers and put around the door and lid and now it still leaks around the bottom of the door. Will have to get some more of the gasket material to seal that area up.

Long Time BBQ Smoker

My most important complaint is the thermometer…it doesn't indicate the correct temp I will have to replace it. It takes a lot more than designated time to assemble. The directions could be more clear the door handle was very difficult as to orientation of the parts was unclear. The Hatches are very flimsy both in the attachment to the base and it being securely fastened to the base. I've used it two times and was satisfactory but it's difficult with the thermometer is inaccurate s both times overcooked! It was at least 100+ over?

Good with/Some problems

Overall, I would call this a good WSM imitator. Its $100 cheaper and only comes in 18.5in size.

The smoker has an 18in diameter with two levels of grates. The metal grates feel sturdy and well made. Set up of the smoker was relatively pain free but definitely can be fixed. Between confusing pictures in the setup manual and annoying screw placement, it took just under an hour.  
 
For the most part, the smoker feels very well built and sturdy. The only place this is not the case is the side door panel. Mine came in slightly bent and feels extremely weak. It also does not lay flush against the side of the smoker leading to a decent amount of smoke to exit from the door. I will be looking into making the hinge in the near future. I also added a layer insulation around the door but it made it pretty tough to close it. Still a work in progress.  
 
For my first warm up smoke, I am using the middle minion method (large amount of unlit charcoal with a small batch of hot coals in the middle). For this first cook, I did no food and no water in the bowl. Started with all vents open and got the smoker to 240 and then closed the bottom vent to about 1/8 open. 4 hours in, it dropped to 230. This was door closed the entire time but no other adjustments. Preceded to open bottom vent fully till it got back to 240 and then closed it back. Still learning the proper openings. 

A few changes I would have made:
1: Better Door
2: Put Screw letters on the back of the packaging so you know which to open up
3: Clean setup manual

Solid Starter Smoker with a Great Price

During the parts inspection I noticed one of the brackets wasn't properly bent to achieve a true 90° angle. The thermometer was broken in two pieces. It needs to be replaced. All parts seemed to be accounted for. 
During a assembly I noticed some of the components were still loose even after being tightened snug. I was able to fix that by adding some washer/lock washers.

Craftmanship issues out of the box

It smokes great but the paint on e body peeled off from the heat and the body has rusted during 1 summer of use.  It still works just looks bad.  The top has some ceramic and is fine
