I've had better devices, and I've had worse devices.
I went from an iMac 27" with 3.3GHz Intel i5 and 40GB RAM down to this base model M1 Mac Mini. Overall, I just didn't require much from my iMac, so I "downgraded" and pocketed some money.Overall, the base model Mac Mini does what I need it to do. It can handle multi-tasking, web browsing, some Logic Pro files (nothing too big) and most other tasks like email, spreadsheets, and other docs without showing any signs of struggle. If I try to produce heavy Logic files on it with multiple software instruments and plugins, it starts to really do some work to keep up. That said, I have a 14" MacBook Pro M1 Pro with 32GB of RAM that can take care of my more intensive projects, while the M1 Mac Mini remains a family-friendly device that handles the daily driver work with relative ease.Is it the most powerful computer out there? Not even close. Is it a good computer than you can trust to run day-in and day-out? Absolutely.
