Brand Story
Casio
With the launch of its first watch in November 1974, Casio entered the wristwatch market at a time when the watch industry had just discovered digital technology. As a company with cutting-edge electronic technology developed for pocket calculators, Casio entered this field confident that it could develop timepieces that would lead the market.
Today, Casio is focusing its efforts on solar-powered radio-controlled watches: the built-in solar battery eliminates the nuisance of replacing batteries, atomic timekeeping means the users never have to reset the time. Recently, Casio launched a series of Bluetooth watches that sync to the users cell phone to automatically update the time. Casio is always moving time forward.

So I pulled all my orders matching "Casio Pathfinder Watch" from my Amazon orders on these watches for the purpose of this review. My purpose of the review is in emphasizing the quality of the Pathfinder, and the faults. I will not list all the functions, since others have already painstakingly done so very well.

Casio Men's PAG240-1CR Pathfinder Triple Sensor Multi-Function Sport Watch
The Pag-240 Has been without doubt the best in the series of Pathfinder I have owned. It is now Dec 6, 2015, and this watch has no failures, the band has no signs of weakness or wear. All function buttons operate smoothly. The watch requires sunlight every other day or exposure to a lamp. This watch has never lost power. The only notable discrepancy would be in the altimeter. Gauging it with the other listed Pathfinders, there is a variation of around 50 feet. So if your skydiving, that would be quite fatal. Otherwise, this watch has performed flawlessly. I wear this watch 24/7, with exception of switching it off with the Solar Atomic (PAW-1300Y) when charging. Which is no longer available on Amazon. When available and when purchased, I paid $500.00 for that watch.

Casio Men's PAG40B-2V Pathfinder Triple Sensor Blue Watch :
Although I liked this watch, this watch lasted less than two years before the batteries ran dead, the watch band deteriorated and began falling apart, and the watch became totally useless.

Casio Men's Reverse LCD Atomic Pathfinder Watch #PAW1300Y-1VCR : The ATOMIC pathfinder is without doubt the most Accurate of all the series within the Pathfinder watches. It is very well constructed, it is identical to the PAG-240 with the exceptions of being solid black, and only having a 12 hour clock however, which made this a bad choice for me. It is also slightly slimmer in depth. The watch when I purchased it was $500.00. At the time the most expensive of all Pathfinder Watches. But, to this day, it still functions in every way, is accurate to the second and like the PAG240, requires only sunlight and or lamplight to charge/recharge. The Atomic Pathfinder has never ceased to function.

Casio Men's Pathfinder Altimeter/Barometer/ Digital Compass Solar Digital Watch #PAG80-1V
The PAG80 Was another decent watch in the Pathfinder series of Solar powered watches. The watch itself still functions quite well. The watch band however fell apart within two years of wear. I keep the watch in the bathroom window charging, although unwearable. And unable to find a replacement band. Although I haven't looked in years now.
I hope my experience with these watches will help you in choosing the right Pathfinder for yourself. These are really great watches if you take fairly good care of them. Just make sure you buy the Solar. If you don't, you are throwing your money away.
Altimeter 3/5 - Out of the box it was spot on. My elevation according to google maps is 1667. The watch said 1680. Great! However, the next day I checked it again and it was off by like 100 ft. I recalibrated it and checked the next day...again off by about 100 ft. The most it's ever been off is about 200 ft. So I guess it's just so-so, I think it's good for a relative elevation, but that's about it. And just to be on the same page I left it on my wrist during these times so that the temperature would stay constant (it says to keep the temp constant to get a better altitude reading). On a side note Casio advertises that you can set alarms for when you are getting close to a certain altitude, but I haven't found this feature yet...I've checked everywhere in the book and online and cannot find any info on this. I think they scammed me here. Can anyone confirm this?
Barometer 5/5 - This has been just about spot on every time I checked it with a weather forecasting site. This is probably my favorite feature of the watch. I wanted to be able to make my own weather predictions..unfortunately I live in a place where the weather does not change much so only time will tell if it picks up on the barometric changes...but like I said, it's been spot on so far.
Compass 5/5 - After I corrected it for magnetic declination for my lat and long it worked great! It wasn't a selling point for me at first, but it's a neat feature and again the dual LCD screen does a great job of displaying the info. I like the direction headings that are displayed as well.
Sunrise/sunset 5/5 - This actually turned out to be a great feature. It's very cool how the watch uses the dual LCD to display the times. My friend is a pilot and he says this function would be very useful to him as they have restrictions on when you can fly or something...not really worried about that, but it does come in handy if you're heading out to get a twilight rate of golf so that you can know if you will have time to finish.
Light 4/5 - It works good, but I wish you could set it to stay on longer than 3 seconds. There is a lot of information on some of these screens and it's hard to take it all in with just one push. I am constantly pressing the light two or three times in a row. I haven't tried the feature that turns the light on with the angle of your wrist yet. I'm sure it works though.
Other features - They're typical alarm, timer, blah, blah, blah, that's not why anyone is buying this watch anyway so why comment on it. They work, that's all you really need to know.
Overall 5/5 - The watch is great! I originally got it for the barometer function and I like how it displays the barometer graph on the main screen without having to go to the actual barometer menu. In addition it allows you to cycle through to display either the graph, the year, or the day, which is awesome...very intuitive. Also, the time is always displayed in the lower portion of any of the compass, altimeter, or barometer modes which is great because you can stay in those modes all day if you like and still know the time...again very intuitive. You can get to either one of the altimeter, barometer, or compass modes with the touch of their respective button. It makes the watch so easy to use because you don't have to cycle through a billion menus. My only gripe is the accuracy of the altimeter, but I can live with it being off every so often...I just recalibrate it...no problem. And by the way this watch is waterproof. I just took it swimming yesterday and there are no issues and no fogging.
