In the pantheon of American whiskey brands, few names are as well known as Willett. Founded in 1936, the Willett Distillery is well-known for its iconic Kentucky Bourbon and Kentucky rye whiskeys. Recently, this brand with more than 90 years of history launched a new full-proof version of one of its most popular whiskeys.

Just in time for Bourbon Heritage Month, Willett Distillery is releasing Willett Pot Still Reserve Cask Strength. This is the first time the brand has released a full-proof version of its small-batch Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. This new wheated bourbon will be released in batches twice per year on the Spring and Fall Equinox.

It all starts with a mash bill of 65% corn, 20% wheat, and 15% barley. The result is a multi-layered, nuanced whiskey loaded with flavors like caramelized sugar, toasted vanilla beans, sweet wheat, mint leaves, butterscotch, cinnamon candy, oak, and baking spices. Bottled at a robust 115-proof, this expression is best enjoyed neat or with a splash or two of water to open up the flavors and aromas.

“The Pot Still bottle is part of Willett’s identity, and it carries the vision of Even Kulsveen every time it is placed on a shelf or poured at a bar,” Master Distiller Drew Kulsveen says.

“Releasing this bourbon at cask strength gives whiskey drinkers a new way to experience the wheated mash bill—full proof, full bodied and presented in a bottle that means so much to our family.”

Not only is the liquid inside noteworthy, but so too is the bottle itself. Created by Even Kulsveen, the decanter is a replica of the patented Willett pot still built by Vendome Copper and Brass.

Where can I buy it?

If you want a bottle of this high-proof release, Willett Pot Still Reserve Cask Strength will soon be available throughout the US at select whiskey retailers for the suggested retail price of $67 for a 750ml bottle. The brand says that each bottle will be identified by its batch-specific proof.
