Widmer Brothers Brewing announces Stay Sunny beer brand refresh

A fresh campaign for a 40-year-old PNW brewery

Widmer Brothers Brewing

Forty years ago, a pair of brothers knocked out a recipe that would help ignite the craft beer movement. That beer would help launch Widmer Brothers Brewing and put Portland on the map as a premiere microbrew destination. This year, the brand is celebrating the four decade mark and countless beers produced.

Part of the celebration includes a brand relaunch under the Stay Sunny moniker. The rebrand includes a pair of new beer, including a ligher version of the famed Hefeweizen and the Timber Pils. The latter is a result of a close partnership with the city’s beloved pro soccer team the Portland Timbers.

Fans can also look forward to new packaging, larger format cans, and a host of gatherings and pop-ups throughout 2026. For perspective, the brewery got its start when gas was less than a dollar a gallon, Whitney Houston was making a name for herself on the FM dial, and Top Gun dropped in the theaters.

For those in the Portland area, there’s even a celebration happening today. It takes place at the Dublin Pub from 3-6 PM and involves cheap pours (to the tune of $3 a pint), live music, and more. The pub is where the Hefeweizen recipe was dreamed up back in 1986.

Widmer Brothers Brewing is one of the longest running craft beer producers in the nation. Known for its flagship hef, the label also makes red ales, Oktoberfest beers, and more. The label is celebrating its 40th anniversary all year long with a host of events in the Rose City and surrounding areas.

Alcohol, Beverage, Liquor

Long before Kentucky bourbon took over the American whiskey conversation, Maryland was distilling quality juice: rye whiskey. The folks at Sagamore Whiskey have spent years trying to bring that legacy back, and this month it's making the case twice.

First off, the Baltimore-based company (which you may remember as Sagamore Spirit) is dropping a wide-release: Sagamore High Rye Straight Bourbon goes national July 1 at an SRP of $50.

Buffalo Trace’s New Prohibition Collection Resurrects More Whiskey From Its Archives
The third Prohibition Collection revives long-dead labels from the years Buffalo Trace was licensed to bottle medicinal whiskey.
Alcohol, Beverage, Liquor

Buffalo Trace has a habit of turning its own history into whiskey, and the third edition of its Prohibition Collection is possibly the most extreme example yet.

This year's annual limited release is five bottles reviving whiskeys the distillery legally produced during Prohibition, back when it was known as the George T. Stagg Distillery.
