Fans of both single malt Scotch whisky and timeless films have reason to be excited about The Macallan’s recent announcement. That’s because the popular single malt whisky brand is releasing an expression to pay homage to the 55th anniversary of the James Bond film ‘Diamonds Are Forever’.

The Macallan Diamonds Are Forever 55th Anniversary Release

It’s been 55 years since the James Bond film ‘Diamonds Are Forever’ starring Sean Connery in the lead role was in theaters. To celebrate this event, The Macallan is releasing a limited-edition single malt whisky. This is the second 007-related release after the brand launched The Macallan James Bond 60th Anniversary Release in 2022.

Created by Whisky Maker Russell Greig, it was distilled in 2007 (get it, 007) and matured for 18 years in bespoke hybrid casks made from sherry-seasoned European and American oak.

According to The Macallan, the result is a sublime, balanced whisky that begins with a nose of toasted vanilla beans, dried fruits, and oak. The palate is centered on notes of vanilla, caramelized sugar, cocoa, champagne truffles, coffee, figs, berries, and apricots. The finish is long, warm, and leaves you craving more.

“Like Bond himself, this whisky holds its secrets,” says Greig,

“It may appear dark and mysterious, yet on the palate it surprises with elegance and lightness. Each cask adds a layer to the story – a reflection of the film’s twists and turns, and a testament to the shared spirit of innovation that connects The Macallan and James Bond.”

Where can you buy it?

The Macallan Diamonds Are Forever 55th Anniversary Release is available exclusively at www.themacallan.com and The Macallan Estate Boutique for a suggested retail price of $750 for a 750ml bottle.

What goes around comes around, again and again. Certainly the culinary world knows as much, just consider the slow food movement or even a good Cosmopolitan cocktail recipe, back in its best forms since, well, the 90s. The latest thing to reemerge is slow-cooked chicken on a spit.

Yes, rotisserie is back and arguably better than ever. Like most things, the epicenter of the movement is taking place in New York City, but it's spread to other food-friendly towns, from Portland to Providence. Maybe we never wanted to let the style go. Maybe we're reliant on a relatively cheap protein in this wobbly economy. Regardless, there's no denying the deeply comforting sensation that is chowing down on some.

This drink goes back to the early 60s in Mexico. It's a bit like a Cuba Libre cocktail, taking advantage of some soda. Our recipe comes from Flecha Azul and is essentially a three-ingredient cocktail.
