Spring cleaning can take a lot of forms. For some breweries and wineries, that can mean a bright new look. For one esteemed member of the craft beer movement, it means eye-catching cans inspired by classic rock royalty Grateful Dead.
Terrapin Beer Co. just finished an extensive rebranding campaign. The outfit’s new labels, inspired by the late Jerry Garcia and co., are works of art. It’s part of a sleek redesign that works with a handful of artists and spans the Georgia brewery’s year-round portfolio.
The news comes amid a busy season in the sector. So far, there have been a number of new spring beer releases, both in the NA and traditional categories. It’s a pleasant plot developing in an industry that’s had it’s share of obstacles over the last several years.

Cue up Terrapin Station (a classic Grateful Dead album), bust out your tie-dye, and crack a beer. At least that’s what the brewery is hoping you’ll do. The craft beer label has long been treated like a blank canvas worthy of some genuine artistic talent and this rebrand showcases as much.
This rebrand involved five area artists, along with folks who have partnered with music industry vets and helped in creating band posters in the past. The artists include Matt Leung, Brian Steely, Justin Helton, Derek Perez, and Owen Murphy. The resulting cans are decidedly psychedelic.
Terrapin Beer Co. was born in Athens, Georgia back in 2002. It made waves with a particular rye pale ale and has since gone on to become one of the most prominent craft brewers in the southeast. Deadheads as well as brewers, the Terrapin community has long liked to inject a bit of rock ‘n’ roll into their work.
