Rye whiskey drinkers know all about the appeal of Templeton. But until recently, all the whiskey from this Iowa-based brand was produced in Indiana. In 2018, the Templeton Distillery opened in Iowa and for the first time the brand is announcing a rye whiskey made entirely in the Hawkeye State.

Templeton  Single Barrel Rye

This barrel proof whiskey is made with a mash bill of 95% rye and 5% malted barley before being matured in new, charred American oak barrels. This limited-edition expression was distilled, matured, and bottled in Iowa at the Templeton Distillery.

According to Templeton, this new release features flavors like baking spices, oak, and caramel. The finish is long, indulgent, lingering, and ends with a mix of sweetness and spice.  Fans of well-made rye whiskeys will want to sip this expression neat, with a splash or water, or mixed into a whiskey-based cocktail.

“We’re proud to introduce Templeton Single Barrel Rye – a whiskey crafted for our fans and connoisseurs alike,” Shane Fitzharris, Senior Vice President, Global Commercial at Infinium Spirits says.

“This release embodies our spirit of innovation while honoring our rich heritage, setting a new benchmark for excellence in American whiskey. Every pour offers a rare and remarkable expression of character and craft – no two barrels alike, each with its own distinct personality and complexity.”

Where can I buy it?

Templeton Single Barrel is available now at select whiskey retails for a limited time for the suggested retail price of $49.99 for a 750ml bottle. For more information, visit www.templetondistillery.com.

Long before Kentucky bourbon took over the American whiskey conversation, Maryland was distilling quality juice: rye whiskey. The folks at Sagamore Whiskey have spent years trying to bring that legacy back, and this month it's making the case twice.

First off, the Baltimore-based company (which you may remember as Sagamore Spirit) is dropping a wide-release: Sagamore High Rye Straight Bourbon goes national July 1 at an SRP of $50.

Alcohol, Beverage, Liquor

Buffalo Trace has a habit of turning its own history into whiskey, and the third edition of its Prohibition Collection is possibly the most extreme example yet.
