James Gin is releasing a flavored expression for fans of condiments

James Gin
James Gin

For those unaware, James Gin is celebrity-driven gin brand. But, while some celebrities simply slap their name on a product, TV host and star of a very popular gin-based YouTube channel, James May, along with master distiller Hugh Anderson, is hands-on with the selection of the various flavors found in the expressions. The newest of which is quite a head-scratcher, but we’ll keep our opinions to ourselves until we have a chance to taste it. That’s because the latest expression from James Gin is American Mustard. Yes, you read that right.

James Gin American Mustard

This unique gin is as American as hot dogs slathered in yellow mustard. Originally called American Ramstud, this expression is flavored with various flavors including juniper, coriander, angelica root, orange peel, bay lead, caraway, ginger, dried tomato, rosemary, cubeb pepper, licorice root, as well as yellow mustard seed and gherkin. The result is a savory, balanced gin that has all the epic flavors of a classic gin paired with the flavors of a ballpark hot dog.

“What started as a playful experiment quickly became one of our most talked-about flavours,”  James May, founder of James Gin said.

“We knew we had to bring it back — just in time for tailgating season. And, yes, there should be  a ‘u’ in ‘flavours’.”

Where can I buy it?

This is the first time James Gin American Mustard will be available as a full production release in the US. Currently, this expression can be pre-ordered ahead of its October launch. Then it will be available at select retailers, bars, and restaurants throughout the US for the suggested retail range of $39-49 for a 700ml bottle. Visit the brand’s website for more details.

The best beers from California you can buy anywhere
California is more than just IPAs
Sierra Nevada

Currently, more than 9,000 breweries of all sizes operate in the US. That’s an awful lot of IPAs, stouts, and lagers to choose from. Some states are more saturated with breweries (per capita) than others. This includes places like Vermont, Colorado, Maine, Oregon, and, of course, California. While I could take a deep dive into all the biggest beer-producing states, today is all about The Golden State.

I have a special affinity for California beer, and it’s because of one style in particular. Sure, you can find a beer style to fit every palate in the state, but in California, the IPA reigns supreme. In fact, if you look at almost any list ranking the best beers in the state, it will be littered with IPA options. While I often imbibe pilsners and other lagers (as well as wheat beers and other lighter beers) in the summer as well as stouts and porters (and other dark beers) in the winter, I always go back to the classic West Coast IPA.
