Rum drinkers know about the appeal of Dominican Republic-made Brugal Rum. This timeless brand has been crafting award-winning rums for the last 135 years. You can’t go wrong with a bottle of Brugal Rum Anejo, Brugal 1888, or Brugal Extra Viejo. All are complex, sippable, mixable, and surprisingly inexpensive.

But the beloved brand doesn’t stop simply with notable flagship expressions. It also drops limited-release rums from time to time. Recently, the iconic brand announced the launch of its most premium expression to date called Andrés Brugal Edition 02.

Fifth-generation Maestra Ronera Jassil Villanueva Quintana made this rum to pay homage to the distillery’s founder, Andrés Brugal Montaner. This limited-edition rum is a blend of four rare American oak bourbon cask aged rums.

According to the brand, the amber-hued, 41.5% ABV rum begins with a nose of brown sugar, fresh vanilla pods, toasted pecans, coconut, citrus, tropical fruits, and aged wood. The palate is loaded with vanilla fudge, baking spices, and caramelized banana. The finish is long, dry, and ends with notes of vanilla and spice.

“This rum exemplifies the meticulous artistry and bold vision of our Maestros Roneros, crafting a liquid that connects our heritage with a future of endless discovery,” Villanueva Quintana, said in a press release.

Tequila El Mexicano newest release is a classic blanco
Tequila El Mexicano

León Jr. and Willy Bañuelos are the grandsons of the founder of Cazadores Tequila. Instead of working for their well-known grandpa, they decided to blaze their own trail in the agave-based spirits world. The duo collaborated with their father, Master Tequilero León Sr., to create Tequila El Mexicano. While the brand already makes a reposado and high-proof blanco, it recently announced the launch of a classic blanco tequila.
Tequila El Mexicano Blanco

Made with 100% Blue Weber agave, Tequila El Mexicano Blanco is made with classic production methods, including traditional copper pot stills. According to Tequila El Mexicano, the result is a balanced, memorable, mixable, and sippable tequila that begins with a nose of cooked agave, yellow lemon, mint, and brine. Sipping it reveals notes of cooked agave, sweet citrus fruits, and a smooth, balanced herbal finish.

Fincasa Whiskey is the rye whiskey for rum drinkers
Fincasa Whiskey is the perfect rye whiskey for rum drinkers
Fincasa Whiskey

We love a good whiskey finished in a unique barrel. Especially when it’s finished in rum barrels. One of our favorite single malt Scotch whiskies of all time is The Balvenie Caribbean Cask 14 Year. That’s why we were so excited when we heard about the third release of Fincasa Whiskey, a rum-cask-finished rye whiskey.
Fincasa Whiskey

Based on owner Mike Martinez’s familial agricultural story in Puerto Rico, Fincasa Whiskey is a melding of whiskey and Latin American culture. Referred to as “Whiskey De La Tierra,” it begins as whiskey sourced from Indiana’s renowned MGP Distillery. The mash bill is 95% rye and 5% malted barley. After the initial maturation, this unique whiskey is finished for six months in ex-rum barrels.
