Our exclusive look inside the TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E5

A New Era of Wearables: Inside the TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E5

The TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E5
TAG Heuer

There is a unique electricity that permeates the air at a TAG Heuer product unveiling, a palpable sense of anticipation for the direction of Swiss engineering and where it may venture next. My recent stop in London included a special visit to the TAG Heuer flagship on Oxford Street for an exclusive showing of the new Connected Calibre E5, and as always, the team delivered a truly five-star presentation that lived up to the promise. After hearing all the hype and hoopla surrounding it, I must admit I was buzzing with anticipation to see what the latest iteration of this pioneering luxury smartwatch had to offer, and from the moment I sat down and spoke with TAG Heuer representatives, it was clear that TAG Heuer had not just updated a watch, but had refined a philosophy.

Behold, the formidable fifth iteration of luxury

The fifth generation of this formidable collection represents a masterful evolution in the delicate dance between iconic Swiss craftsmanship and state-of-the-art digital performance. Holding the timepiece, I immediately appreciated the significant refinements to its physical form. The case comes in two sizes: a commanding 45mm and a more universally wearable 40mm size, featuring a newly sculpted architecture. As for the upgrades? Enthusiasts stated their case and TAG Heuer delivered.

The faceted lugs now flow seamlessly into the case, while the reworked pushers create a smoother, more organic silhouette that sits elegantly on the wrist. This is complemented by a versatile new strap system that allows for tool-free interchangeability, offering a level of personalization that moves from the sporty resilience of rubber to the sophisticated gleam of polished steel, ensuring the watch can adapt to any occasion from a boardroom to a weekend regatta. And with a watch this luxe? You will want to wear it everywhere as it is a definite conversation starter.

A sophisticated digital display for the discerning collector

The TAG Heuer mantra is loud and clear with this latest model: go big or go home. The star of the show is undoubtedly the largest and most sophisticated selection of interactive watch faces in the collection’s history. Each is a miniature tribute to TAG Heuer’s immense heritage, featuring stunningly detailed animations and complications inspired by the tachymeter bezels of the Carrera, the aquatic motifs of the Aquaracer, and the dynamic energy of the Formula 1 line. This digital homage ensures that, even in its smartest form, the watch never loses its horological DNA. At its core is the new, proprietary TAG Heuer OS, an operating system that offers a faster, more intuitive navigation experience. The inclusion of voice call capabilities directly from the wrist further cements its position as a truly standalone communication device, all supported by an impressive extended battery life that can now last up to a full three days on a single charge, freeing the wearer from the constant hunt for an outlet.

Beyond its timekeeping and connectivity, the Calibre E5 positions itself as a dedicated life and performance coach. A comprehensive suite of sophisticated wellness and sports apps provides detailed, real-time insights into everything from daily activity and heart rate variability to specific metrics for running and golf performance. This transforms the timepiece from a passive device into an active instrument for measuring not just time, but the very progress of the human spirit itself. During the presentation, a burning question arose: could a watch of such advanced capability truly be accessible? I was genuinely pleased to discover that the interface is remarkably intuitive. Even for me, someone who constantly straddles the fence between the comforting tactility of the analog world and the relentless innovation of the digital realm, navigating the latest model was a seamless and surprisingly effortless experience. TAG Heuer has successfully demystified high technology, wrapping it in a package of undeniable luxury.

A substantial statement of Swiss manufacturing

The TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E5 is more than an incremental update; it is a statement of intent. It proves that a smartwatch can be unapologetically luxurious and effortlessly useful without compromising on the aesthetic tenets that define a legacy Swiss brand. It is designed for the modern individual who demands performance without sacrifice and elegance without pretense. As the landscape of luxury timekeeping continues to evolve at a breathtaking pace, TAG Heuer has firmly planted its flag at the forefront with a timepiece that is as intelligent as it is beautiful.

Adopt your Wimbledon Whites with these stellar summer pieces
Summer is the time for the all white ensemble, take your lead from the best of the best on the court
Adult, Male, Man

The Wimbledon Championships are the oldest of the four Grand Slam tournaments. They have been around since the late 1800s, and if you know anything about events that old, they are steeped in customs and traditions. While I am a huge fan of customs and traditions, I have always thought it odd when players of high-octane sports wear white. It feels like keeping sweat stains would be an utter nightmare. Having said that, Wimbledon requires all participants to wear white. It is what has come to be called the Wimbledon Whites. Now, I am also a huge fan of dressing the part, so I will confess to being guilty of planning an all-white ensemble just in case I ever land an invite to the most prestigious tennis match in the world. Now, if you are cooler than I and have already landed an invite to the tournament, then I have put together the elements of the perfect Wimbledon look.

Your underwear is probably gross now: Embrace the refresh
How long should you wear your underwear? An expert gives us insight.
Clothing, Undershirt, Adult

I am on an underwear kick right now. I can't help it. I have been reevaluating my underwear drawer since I had my conversation with David Ehrenberg, the CEO of Pair of Thieves, earlier this week. I mean, how often do men think about their underwear? The truth is, while we don't think about it often (hopefully you are a little bit after reading my last article with David), I have discovered we actually DO think about it in some ways. We just need to change how we think about it. Ladies, go ahead, ask your guy what underwear he is wearing right now. There will be two answers. 1 - "No clue, what did you buy me?" 2 - "My favorites." We're weird about it. We all have at least one pair we wear all the time. It is our favorite pair. Then we have the others, the ones that are just the day-to-day. And finally, we have the ones we never want to wear, but it's a laundry emergency, so we must. In all likelihood, this pair has been with us since Mom bought them for us. That's right, yeeeeeeeears ago.

Fellas, it's gross. I often think about a movie quote from Smokin' Aces, by the always-great Jeremy Piven. "There is not a laundry detergent or dry cleaning product known to man that will get that out. Suffice it to say, some sh*t, don't wash out." There is a moment in time when your underwear is done for, beyond saving. But, when do you know when to give up on old faithful? David and I hashed it out.
