On Your Feet: J. Crew and New Balance celebrate the dog days of summer

Whenever J. Crew and New Balance get together, you know something great is going to come out of it. The new Hilltop Blues 998s are no exception, and J. Crew has brought a premium look and feel to a timeless pair of New Balances.

These 998s are an homage to the communal ballparks found around New York City, with a combination of several materials, plus a few extra details that really drive the concept home. Dark brown and blue suede panels overlay off-white nylon, a nod to the rough and tumble pickup games of baseball, while keeping it light and fun.

Not that the base of the shoe isn’t premium already. The New Balance 998 is equipped with the ABZORB midsole, a combination of foam and rubber cells that provide excellent shock absorption and comfort. The midsole is able to take a hit and dissipate the pressure over longer periods of time than traditional EVA midsoles that are found in most sneakers.

On the inside lining of the shoe, you’ll find a sturdy and lightweight fleece lining, and a specially textured laces that fit with the pattern on the side of the shoe. It’s the little touches, like offset red lace holders, or a two-tone midsole, that give the J. Crew New Balances an extra dash of class.

Sometimes a great pair of sneakers isn’t about turning heads, it’s about being comfortable, and looking well put together. Whether you plan on rocking these to a 4th of July party, or as an everyday pair at work, you’ll look like you know how to really pick a pair of shoes.

You can pick up the Hilltop Blues 998s online or in store, but act fast, because these collaborations never last long.

Salomon releases new collaborative sneaker
salomon rust trail sneaker

When it comes to a trail sneaker, you’ll want to ensure it is both functional and stylish. While a chic sneaker comes in handy for everyday use, a trail-ready sneaker should be able to keep you comfortable on any adventure. While Salomon knows how to fuse both successfully, their latest collaboration with South Korean designer J EONGL I adds another level of style and practicality to it. Inspired by the passage of time, this new collaboration comes in two colorways that perfectly capture the inspiration of eroded cliffs and fossils. Both monochromatic versions feature a sculptural style and footwear technology that’ll catch anyone’s attention on the trails or city streets.

Now, the series is getting two new additions that take the maximum cushioning to another level. The Vomero Plus and Premium are the latest additions to the series, which are as large as they come. Celadon Century Cloisonné collection: A masterful fusion of Chinese design and luxury horology
Celadon’s new Century Collection merges ancient Chinese cloisonné art with Swiss mechanical excellence in just eight pieces per design.
'Double Dragons' from the Celadon Century Cloisonné collection

The Celadon Century Cloisonné collection stands as a testament to horology, imbuing new life into the centuries old Chinese enamel technique known as cloisonné. To view these dials is to be witness to a diminutive masterpiece of ancient artistry, handcrafted by artisans layering vibrant glass pastes within delicate gold or silver wire partitions before exposing them to multiple high-temperature firings. The end result is nothing short of a marvel – a visually intoxicating display of color and light, featuring the collection's signature phoenix and dragon motifs. These stand as symbols of renewal and power in Chinese culture as they appear to float just above the dial's surface. This intense process requires more than 30 hours of labor for each dial, with no room for imperfections.

Swiss precision lies beneath the surface
