Get Ready for Spring with Madewell’s Sidewalk Sneaker Collection

Is it ever too early to shop for your new favorite spring sneakers? In our estimation, well, no, it’s never too early. That works out quite well given that Madewell just launched its first sneaker collection. The Madewell Sidewalk Sneakers are here, and they’re very, very stylish.

The unisex collection (developed by Madewell’s in-house design team) is everything we could have asked for when it comes to sneakers for early spring (and beyond).

“We’re excited to launch our first line of sneakers,” said Joyce Lee, Madewell’s head of design.  “As a denim brand, creating our own sneaker was a natural next step.”

The collection includes models like the Sidewalk Sneakers in Canvas, a sporty white canvas, gum rubber low-top that looks tailor-made to be worn with a pair of Madewell denim (just the way the brand would want it) and a slub T-shirt or Oxford. For what it’s worth, the  Sidewalk Sneakers in Canvas (particularly the white canvas iteration) are our favorite, since they look as suited for spring travel as they do for a rooftop happy hour.

That same versatility carries over to the eight additional offerings in the collection, including an intriguing pair of Peach Sidewalk Sneakers. Try them with light wash jeans and a casual crewneck on a breezy day – plus the old school-tinged Sidewalk Sneakers in White Leather (able to be worn with a khaki cotton suit or a chambray shirt and grey chinos). That the collection takes inspiration from throwback skate gear is fitting, given how prevalent skate culture is in matters of menswear these days. But, the difference is, these aren’t the skate sneakers you had in middle school. The Madewell Sidewalk Sneakers are really all grown up.

Put it this way: For a brand’s first attempt at sneakers, the details and construction are on-point and the pricing ($68-$88) isn’t half-bad, either. And the fact that they use new MWL Cloudlift insole technology for all-day support is a huge bonus, too.  That means any offering in the collection is designed to keep you on your feet in style all day long, from a breakfast meeting to the office to happy hour, and then back the next day.

From these new sneakers to its well-executed line of denim and soft, perfectly crafted T-shirts and jean jackets, Madewell Men’s is quickly becoming a brand to be reckoned with in its own right. It helps that these sneakers are here in time for spring; the hardest part might be waiting to wear them until it gets warm out.

Although Native Shoes have become a staple among families and younger children, their newest release is for a new demographic. In celebration of their 15th anniversary, Native Shoes is rereleasing their 2014 Apollo design in a new lifestyle sneaker. Even though the brand already has a lengthy men's and women's collection, the Apollo 10 sneaker is a redesigned shoe that creates a more sophisticated silhouette. Incorporating new comfort-centered technology, this sneaker balances Native’s need for practicality with an elevated design. By using purposeful materials, Apollo 10 also pays homage to the brand’s mission of lowering their environmental impact.

For Native’s new release, users will find three new colors for everyday looks. At $135, the Apollo 10 sneaker will be available in bone white, quicksand brown, and brown. Unlike previous Native designs, the Apollo 10 uses a rubber outsole for durable traction, a microfiber upper made from recycled materials, a stretchy PU, a microfiber lining with padding for comfort, and an added heel loop for easier access. The Apollo 10’s midsole also comes with Supercritical Sugarlite, Native Shoe’s new foaming process that utilizes fewer chemicals in its production. Unlike other designs, this release is made for an older demographic rather than adopting designs in adult sizes.

Loro Piana, New Balance join forces to create your new favorite sneaker
What you need to know about New Balance's new sneaker
New balance shoes on shelves

When the dad shoe trend came into the spotlight, New Balance’s sneakers became the most iconic shoe at the moment. Not only did the brand’s chunky design provide ample focus but it proved that comfort could be chic. However, these ‘dad’ shoes didn’t provide the luxury or sophistication needed to qualify under the ‘quiet luxury’ trend. However, Loro Piana is taking the famed New Balance sneaker and giving it an Italian leather makeover. With the 990v6, Loro Piana and New Balance are making the chunky shoe into a classic and luxurious design with craftsmanship and quality to prove it. While this partnership is on-trend and modern, it comes with quality that spans years.
Loro Piana and New Balance’s casual luxury

Unlike your regular New Balance sneakers, the 990v6 is made of premium Italian materials that make it worth the $1500 price tag. A soft grey nubuck and tonal mesh panels outline the shoe, providing a soft tactile material and breathability for the user. Providing a splash of color are burgundy accents of Loro Piana’s rare Pecora Nool along the heel and tongue, giving the design a moody and luxurious feel. On the inside, the shoe doesn’t lose value as it comes ready with New Balance’s ENCAP midsole technology.

When Kith and Giorgio Armani announced their collaboration, there was no doubt it would offer sophisticated footwear for the fall and winter seasons. With both bringing their brand identities, this partnership has created three stellar pieces that belong in any fall closet. Coming together for their “Archetype” campaign, the two brands have dove deep into luxury. For this campaign, the two have tapped director Martin Scorsese as the face of their collaboration, showcasing the artist archetype. Besides the high caliber of names participating in this partnership, the real stars are the three new pieces that deliver quality craftsmanship, inspired by Mr. Armani.
Kith x Giorgio Armani’s “The Archetype”

As part of the campaign, three new shoes have been announced, including a chukka boot, a hiker boot, and a loafer. Released in a soft beige, the chukka boot option is made in a suede upper and shearling lining. Kith and Armani branding can also be found on the footbed and pull tab. The chukka boot also features a leather-welted rubber outsole that provides a rugged look to the design. For the hiker boot, users will find a new silhouette featuring a rich brown Italian leather upper and shearling lining. Branding can be found on the side, tongue, and footbed. Including a leather-welted EVA midsole, the hiker boot is also a comfortable option for those needing more support. Rounding out the collection is a sophisticated black loafer style made with premium Italian black leather. Unlike the boot designs, the loafer comes with a hand-stitched Armani emblem on the vamp and debossed Kith branding underneath.
