Reacher season 4: Everything we know so far

Jack Reacher's TV series will be back for a fourth time on Prime Video

Reacher is one of Amazon Prime Video’s best successes of the decade. Starring Alan Ritchson and based on the books by novelist Lee Child, the adaptation of the beloved action stories has been an affordable, simple, and effective adventure series that people have fallen in love with across the first three seasons. There was a lot of skepticism when the show was first greenlit, especially because the film version with Tom Cruise wasn’t as good as fans expected. Instead, Ritchson and the creative team have fantastically absorbed all of the snappy writing from the books and added to it with their own unique flair.

With the third season of the show done airing, fans are looking forward to when the fourth season will come out. We have a bunch of shows like Reacher you can watch in the meantime, but sometimes that doesn’t serve as an adequate substitute for the real thing. Fortunately, we have all the answers you need about Reacher season 4 right here.

What will Reacher season 4 be about?

There is no confirmation on the plot of Reacher season 4 yet. There are 29 novels in Lee Child’s portfolio for this series, and with each new season consisting of material from an individual book, Amazon will have a hard time running out of material to adapt. Some fans on Reddit have speculated that the next book they will choose to cover is The Midnight Line.

Others in the thread said the writers should go with 61 Hours or Without Fail. Tripwire was a choice heavily debated by fans but its setting (the Vietnam War) might make it harder to pull off. The show has built such incredible good will with its fans so far that it will be hard to find a way to let them down. No matter what book is chosen, people want to watch more of Jack Reacher.

If people want to follow the series during the hiatus between season 3 and season 4, Prime Video has a spinoff in the works that should do the trick. Neagley will be about the adventures of Frances Neagley and will star Maria Sten in the protagonist’s role. Sten has appeared in 20 episodes of Reacher so far. The spinoff series has an estimated release date of 2025, but nothing is set in stone at this time.

Alan Ritchson will be back to play Jack Reacher in the fourth season of the show, but is there any news on guest stars that will cameo in the new episodes? No confirmation as of yet on that front. The show hasn’t been known to have famous actors in guest roles, instead opting to go with lesser known but very effective actors who don’t distract from the story or the source material. Sometimes, going with the big name can overshadow the plot.

The two big additions to the third season that really made a difference were Oliver Richters as Paulie van Hoven and Anthony Michael Hall as Zachary Beck. Hall was a big star in the 1980s and 1990s but has taken on smaller recurring parts ever since. His role in this show fit his style perfectly. Reacher will most likely try to find actors in this vein in season 4; just enough fame for big movie and TV fans to notice, but not enough to become a bigger story than the show. Shows like Dexter often did this back in the 2000s when casting the villain for each new season.

When will Reacher season 4 come out?

Reacher season 4 was confirmed in October 2024. The third season just ended in March 2025 so filming should be starting up again shortly. The release date for the fourth season hasn’t been confirmed yet. The gap between the second and third seasons was between December 2023 and February 2025. If we go by this 14-month hiatus, then we can expect Reacher season 4 to come out sometime around April 2026, give or take a month or two.

Reacher looks to become a show that comes out on a yearly release schedule, as fans have gotten tired of other shows taking upwards of two years or more between seasons to release new episodes. Reacher doesn’t have a lot of special effects compared to something like Stranger Things or Andor. Prime Video can release the show efficiently the way Hulu has with The Bear or Max has with Hacks.

The only thing that could eventually complicate the series’ release schedule is Alan Ritchson’s increased workload. Since Reacher, Ritchson has started to book a lot more roles, such as in the movies Motor City and War Machine. Ritchson has the charisma and the physique to be one of the great action stars of the next generation. He’ll have to balance the filming of both Reacher and any other projects as he gets more recognition and job opportunities increase.

Can The Last of Us season 2 redeem the controversial choices of the second game?
The Last of Us season 2 has a tall task ahead
Gabriel Luna and Bella Ramsey in The Last of Us

The Last of Us franchise has become one of the most universally loved stories in both gaming and TV. There's a reason the show got the green light: The video game is a modern classic that raised the bar for future games with its graphics, character design, adventure gameplay, and mature aesthetic. The Last of Us lets people know that video games are much more than just a cheap diversion; they are artwork in their own right. The Last of Us TV show took it a step further and cemented the series as one that is complex enough to be told in multiple mediums. The zombie genre has more respect than ever, and post-apocalyptic storytelling is now respected even more due to the success of the first season.

This is where things get interesting and controversial, though. The second The Last of Us game is known for some plot decisions and character developments that fans thought were a slap in the face to the first game. The Last of Us season 2 now stands on the precipice of either greatness or a repeat of the same mistakes its source material made. Is it possible for the series to tweak the plot while still staying faithful to creator Neil Druckmann's vision?

Inside the Pedr-evolution: What makes Pedro Pascal so castable?
The Last of Us star might be the biggest actor alive right now
Pedro Pascal in Gladiator 2

Remember the McConsaisance? Throughout the middle of the 2010s, it felt like Matthew McConaughey was in every big movie and show that popped up on our screens. He had been famous for decades, but his emergence as a star in elite-level TV and film made him an icon. Robert Downey Jr. had been the butt end of jokes throughout the 1990s after suffering through substance abuse problems, but his casting in Iron Man made him the alpha dog of superhero movies for the last 15-plus years.

It's always fun to dissect why someone who has been in the entertainment industry for eons suddenly hits their prime later in life. Pedro Pascal is the ultimate symbol of this ideal, though. The Chilean-born actor was a small supporting actor in a variety of projects for his entire life, but the 2020s have seen his life flipped upside down in the best way possible. The Mandalorian, The Last of Us, The Fantastic Four, Gladiator II, and The Wild Robot are each big enough on their own that any actor would love to star in just one of these projects.

Severance season 3: Everything we know so far
Will there be another three year wait for Severance?
The cast of Severance

Severance is perhaps the most ambitious show in a large portfolio of incredible ones on Apple TV+. Created by Dan Erickson and produced by Ben Stiller, Severance dissects the horrors of an uneven work-life balance by showing the lives of an office that has been severed from their thoughts at home. The characters essentially live two separate lives in which they don't know about the other version of themselves. It's a science fiction concept that uses a large dose of satire, especially as we live in an age in which more people are trying to gain control of their time when companies use up so much of their employees' existence.

Severance just finished a second season that some fans complained was a little too slow and confusing. The season finale included a musical sequence and some answers about the innies (the work version of the characters) and outies (the personal life version of the characters) that fans had been waiting for since the beginning of the show. Apple TV+ has renewed the show for a third season, and hopefully, there won't be a three-year wait for the encore this time around. This is everything we know so far about Severance season 3.
