It turns out that there might not be any more ‘Last of Us’ games after all

Since the first game premiered in 2014, The Last of Us has been one of the premiere gaming franchises. What’s more, the franchise has translated well to the small screen, with an HBO adaptation that earned praise from both critics and fans.

As we get ready for a second season of the HBO series, which will adapt the more controversial The Last of Us: Part II, one thing fans of the franchise still wonder about is whether there will be any more games in this universe.

Neil Druckmann, the creator of the games and a co-creator on the TV series, said that we shouldn’t bet on seeing another video game.

“I was waiting for this question,” Druckmann told Variety. “I guess the only thing I would say is don’t bet on there being more of ‘Last of Us.’ This could be it.”

As for the TV adaptation, it’s unclear how many more seasons of the show there will be after this one. What we do know, though, is that this season does not cover the entirety of Part II.

“It feels like we’ve got one or two more seasons,” Craig Mazin, Druckmann’s co-creator, says. “It’s getting harder to make, because every episode gets big. You don’t want to wait four years for a 17-episode finish, or whatever it is.”

So the future is very much up in the air, although we know for sure that we’re getting at least one more season of the show. Fans will just have to relish that, and hope that Druckmann can’t resist revisiting his signature world.

The Daily Show's 2024 election night coverage concluded as it became increasingly clear that Donald Trump was going to be elected to the presidency. In the show's final moments, Stewart offered a heartfelt reminder to his audience at home: "We have to regroup and we have to continue to fight and continue to work day in and day out to create the better society for our children, for this world, for this country that we know is possible. It’s possible.”

According to Variety, though, Stewart had even more to say to the live studio audience that had assembled for the special.

More seasons of ‘Agatha All Along’ could be in the works
The series has not been officially renewed for a second season.
The cast of Agatha All Along

One of the big surprises of 2024 was the success of Agatha All Along, both critically and commercially. The series, which is a spin-off of Marvel's very first series, WandaVision, was initially envisioned as a miniseries, but it seems like Disney could be reevaluating that plan.

According to Variety, Agatha All Along will be submitting itself for awards consideration at the Golden Globes and Emmys as a comedy series, which means that it will compete against shows like Abbott Elementary and The Bear. The news that Disney was submitting the series as a comedy and not a limited series strongly suggests that they are considering making more seasons of the show.

Kaitlyn Dever needed extra security on ‘The Last of Us’ set — here’s why
Abby is one of the most hated characters in video game history.

There's fan backlash, and then there's what happened around the release of The Last of Us: Part 2. The game was characterized by severe hate from fans, specifically around the character of Abby, a muscular, capable woman who was seen as too masculine by some fans, who also wrongly assumed that she was a trans character based on leaks.

Now, Kaitlyn Dever is attempting to translate that character to live-action for season 2 of The Last of Us TV show, and the backlash has apparently translated right alongside her. According to Dever's co-star on the second season Isabella Merced, Dever required extra security on set to protect her from a particularly aggravated group of fans.
