You Can Buy Nicolas Cage’s Former Mansion in San Francisco

Coldwell Banker Global Luxury

We’ve got rockin’ good news: the former San Francisco mansion of actor Nicolas Cage is on sale for just shy of $6 million ($5,995,000). Steal as many Shelby Mustang GT500s as you need to make the mortgage, because this 6,957-square foot abode (plus a 1,240-square-foot garage) is a perfectly elegant blend of modern and vintage architecture fit for a refined treasure-hunting lunatic.

Outside the residence at 1945 Franklin St., you’ll be surrounded by the Pacific Heights neighborhood of San Francisco, coveted for its picturesque tree-lined streets, elite private schools, and one of the most wealthy and influential lists of homeowners in the country, from Apple designers and famous novelists to tech CEOS. (Ever heard of Billionaires Row? It’s in Pacific Heights.)

A pair of lion statues guard the stairs to the front door of 1945 Franklin and inside the Victorian mansion (circa 1898), appliances and fixtures have been reimaged for the 21st century. Eggshell walls and a multitude of tall Victorian stained glass windows featuring jungle scenes fill the rooms with light and negative space.

Modern updates to note include an open-concept kitchen, artistic spiral staircase, new-age light fixtures, and an entire corner wall that slides open to an outdoor patio and garden. Realtors at Global Luxury say the space has “wonderful indoor/outdoor flow.” We feel like Cage would care about “flow” so we’re going to agree.

Throughout the house are five bedrooms with six full baths and three half-baths, so you can invite your equivalent to Uncle Francis Ford Coppola to visit for the weekend. Yup, your uncle could be sleeping in a guest bedroom where the director of The Godfather, Apocalypse Now, The Outsiders, and The Rainmaker snoozed.

Some of the upstairs bedrooms also open out to raised patios, where you can pretend you’re flying in the air with a band of convicts.

Additional amenities include a wine cellar, spa, office, entertainment room, double living room, and home theater, which we recommend you stock with the following flicks: National Treasure, Ghost Rider, Con Air, Face Off, Valley Girl, Moonstruck, Gone in 60 Seconds, and Adaptation. Forget Leaving Las Vegas because it’s depressing.

Author and Founder of EST Werner Erhard is another notable celeb who once lived at 1945 Franklin. Realtors at Global Luxury explain that the history, glamour, and contemporary edge of this property make it well worth the cost. But, honestly, we were sold at Nicolas Cage.

More into L.A. vibes? Just buy James Dean’s old dig.

We love scoping out an over-the-top luxury home — even more so when that home belongs to a celebrity. Here’s a chance to check out a property so exclusive, we don’t even know the official address, except that it’s located in Montecito, California. Actor Rob Lowe is selling his estate, named Oakview, and the pictures have us wishing we hit the lottery.

Sitting on 3.4 acres, the Georgian Colonial-inspired home offers a welcoming retreat less than two hours outside of Los Angeles. An impressive portico greets guests and sets the tone for the remainder of the home, letting people know this place isn’t California surfer shack but rather East Coast class.
