What style of belt would you recommend for different outfits?

Asked by Dan Gaul

I’m need some recommendations. I’m not looking for a suit belt, but more belts to use with casual outfits. Like jeans and button up or casual dress pants with button up or polos.

I have 4 belts I use for all occasions. Two black belts, one semi dressy for use with suits and jeans and another one that is more casual for regular jeans. Same with my brown belts.

I always like using a not-super-dressy belt for traveling that looks good with suits and jeans.

I’m hoping for a particular style. For example, a weave vs straight leather, etc. Any suggestions? I have a weave belt, but I hear thats a fashion nono now a days.

I tend to like belts that have a bit of personalty. Have some FUN. Here is a link to VINEYARDVINES, they do casual belts that can be dressed up as well.

Thanks Tom. Quick question, does it matter on color matching (e.g. brown leather), or the buckle color (gold buckle, silver, etc)? What about styles of belts that are a no-no (weave, etc)?

Dan, I do think that a black belt is best with black shoes/boots, and brown/brown too. However, the gold -silver is a tad more open to personal interpretation.
