Tailor hemmed my jeans too short. Am I screwed?

Asked by Ian Bell

He hemmed them about 1/4″ too short and they look funny now when wearing the jeans with tall shoes or boots. They see to look OK when wearing my Vans or boat shoes though.

I am assuming the jeans will shrink even more the more I wash them. Any way to fix their length or am I screwed?

To avoid shrinking, you can dry on low or air dry. But usually jeans don’t shrink much vertically – they only go back to their original shape after being washed.

I guess you can keep the jeans to go with appropriate shoes. Or go for the rolled up cuffs look if you can pull it off http://www.bestylish.org…p-your-jeans-and-khakis.

There’s always the option of trying to re-hemming it since they must’ve left in some extra fabric inside the cuffs. Good luck.

Thanks for the help. Being in Portland OR, it would be hard to get away with the rolled up look. I have already started pairing the jeans with the appropriate shoes.

Glad to know re: the shrinking too. I love these jeans and its a shame they are too short for all shoes.
