This is it. One of the biggest days in all sports is here. The Super Bowl has arrived. You’ve got your bean dip made, you’ve got enough chips to fill a McDonald’s ball pit. For those of you with kids, you’ve bribed the babysitter to keep the little ones quiet extra long so you can watch the match of the year, pitting a sure-to-be Hall-of-Famer against the record-breaking young buck. You’ve got everything you need, except a drink in your hand.
Sure, you could go with a simple beer, but why? You’ve spent sixteen-plus week pounding down swill. It’s time to kick it up a notch and graduate to the big leagues. You know, mix it up a little bit. Even the worst coaches out there know that you can’t run the same exact play every time. Below, you’ll find some cocktails fit for an MVP, so break out your jersey and your favorite shaker, and get ready to score.
The Half-Time Show
- 2 oz Santera Blanco Tequila
- 25 oz Fresh Lime Juice
- 5 oz Mint Simple Syrup*
- 3 Lime wedges or wheels
- 1 Fresh Mint Sprig
- Club soda to top
Method: In a shaker, combine tequila, juice and simple syrup. Add ice and shake vigorously. Fill a Collins glass with fresh ice and add lime
- 1 oz. Hangar 1 Mandarin Blossom Vodka
- 1 oz. Sweet Vermouth
- ¾ oz. Fresh Lemon Juice
- ½ oz. Simple Syrup
- 2 dashes Angostura bitters
- Seltzer Water
Method: Add ingredients except seltzer water in a cocktail shaker. Briefly shake with ice and strain into an ice-filled Collins glass. Top with seltzer.

Best Damn Root Beer Float
- 1 bottle of Best Damn Root Beer
- 2 scoops vanilla ice cream
Method: Scoop ice cream into mug (chilled if possible). Pour in Best Damn Root Beer. Garnish with whipped cream and a maraschino cherry and a drizzle of chocolate syrup.
- 1 can Sauza Silver Tequila
- 1 can frozen limeade
- 1 bottle of light beer
- 1 bottle of water
Method: Pour limeade and beer into a pitcher with ice. Fill limeade can with Sauza Silver and pour into pitcher. Finally, add a can of water, stir and enjoy. (Serves 8)
Bacardí Cuba Libre
- 1 part Barcardí Gold Rum
- 2 parts cola (*can substitute diet cola for all of those calorie-counters)
- 2 lime wedges
Method: To build this legendary cocktail, fill a highball glass with ice. Then squeeze 2 lime wedges over the ice and drop them into the glass. Pour in the Bacardí Gold Rum, followed by chilled cola and give it all a gentle stir.
The Lawless Liter

- 1L Patrón Silver (33.8 oz)
- 5 oz Lime Juice
- 25 oz Yellow Chartreuse
- 25 oz Agave Nectar
- 25 oz Velvet Falernum
- 5 oz Chilled Water
- Peychaud’s Bitters, to taste
Method: Combine and stir all ingredients in a punch bowl filled with. Garnish with lemon wheels. (Serves about 6)
Effen Tiki Touchdown
- 1 part Effen Vodka
- 1 part fresh Pineapple Juice
- 1 part Fresh lemon Sour Mix (Or good fresh lemonade)
- ½ part FRESH Orange Juice
Method: Add all ingredients to a shaker with ice and mix well. Pour into a rocks glass and garnish with pineapple wedge and cherry.

- 125 oz Jägermeister
- 5 oz Fresh Lime Juice
- 5 oz Ginger Syrup
- 35 oz Bigelow Orange & Spice Tea
- 60 oz Soda Water (add to taste)
- 2 whole oranges sliced into very thin discs.
Method: Combine Jägermeister, Lime Juice, and Ginger Syrup to punch bowl. Bring 5 cups of water to a boil and add 5 tea bags of Bigelow Orange & Spice. Remove water from heat and allow too steep for 6 minutes (You will have more tea brewed than you are actually going to use.) Add 35 oz of Bigelow Orange and Spice tea to the punch bowl. Stir punch vigorously. Add soda to taste. Top entire punch with sliced orange discs. Serve over ice in traditional Mule Tins or in another receptacle of your choosing. Garnish with your teams assigned garnish—and enjoy responsibly.
