This under-the-radar German brand just dropped a slick new dive watch

Hanhart doesn’t get talked about nearly enough, so here’s a quick backstory: they’re a German brand out of Gütenbach in the Black Forest, they put the first single-button chronograph into series production back in 1938, and a year later they built pilot’s chronographs for the German Air Force. That red pusher button is still on their watches today.

That’s a real, foundational place in watchmaking history; it’s the kind of lore that other brands build entire marketing campaigns around. Somehow, Hanhart still flies under most people’s radar, but their new Aquasphere Matte Black is an argument that folks should be paying attention.

Union Glashütte’s new chronograph looks like a vintage race car dashboard

Union Glashütte has released a new limited-edition chronograph tied to the Sachsen Classic, a historic car rally the brand has sponsored for years.

The name of the Glashütte-based watchmaker’s new piece is a mouthful: the Averin Chronograph Limited Edition Sachsen Classic 2026. It might be so long because it marks a bit of a switch-up — past Sachsen Classic editions have all been built on Union Glashütte’s Noramis Chronograph, a round watch. This year the brand switched to the Averin, which is very clearly not round.

I am also a menswear fanatic. From selling suits to writing about them, a good suit is always in my bag with me. So when a brand I love, Hockerty being a favorite, finds inspiration in a place, I pay attention. I wrote about their summer edit a while ago, with their colors at the forefront of my attention. But I missed something. I missed that all fourteen looks they debuted were inspired by different places in Italy.
