Super Soft Threads by Delikatessen

You know that sweater that has dwelled in the shadowy depths of your drawer for several years now? Or that shirt that still hangs in your wardrobe unworn because the fit isn’t right but it was a gift so you can’t quite bring yourself to throw it out? Well Delikatessen’s AW13/14 collection is so wearable- and so damn sumptuous to touch- it might just compel you to finally toss them to the garbage.

Amsterdam locals Andre Lisowski and Stephen Hartog founded the label in 2009. Each passing collection has taken a step closer to what men want to wear right now and probably for some seasons to come too. The comfy, ‘I’ve had it for years’ quality is down to the rigorous crafting process, wherein each piece is pre-washed and pre-shrunk to fit. Since the brand’s inception, only the finest Giza 87 and Mako cottons have been used which are notorious for being the softest available yearns in the world.

Delikatessen circa AW13/14 is awash with intuitive colour combinations that feel both fresh and classic; the cobalt check shirt and cognac chino is our fave. Vibrant blue pieces feature throughout the collection and, thanks to the simplicity of the designs, were made to be layered together for a causal take on tonal dressing. For those who have been searching for the perfect piece of outerwear to segue from winter to spring, the grey bomber jacket made from pure boiled wool is an awesome investment.

The collection throws it back to the Portugieser of the 1930s, where the design got its first inspiration from those gorgeous navigational watches on the deck of a ship. Keep that nautical theme in your head because each piece in the collection has celestial details as the star.

Cartier Rewind on wrist

Wristwatches may be distinctly masculine pieces of hardware now, thanks to some very popular people in pop culture and in our own history adopting them. British super spy James Bond, movie stars, and athletes are the people we look up to who wear watches that catch our eye. Soldiers, cops, firefighters, and first responders wear watches they trust to ensure they can save lives. Pilots and divers created an entire industry around watches specifically designed for their vocations. And the very first pilot's watch was none other than a Cartier watch.

Alberto Santos-Dumont was a pioneer in the flight world and was one of the first people on Earth to achieve air travel. He was a competitor of the Wright Brothers, and, depending on the source, he preceded them in flight. In any case, the French celebrity went to Louis Cartier, another pioneer of his craft, and procured a square timekeeper meant for the wrist. The Cartier Santos Dumont was born. Over a century later, Cartier attended Watches and Wonders and presented the newest in the line of Santos watches, one that reverses time.
